So unlike, say, all of LG’s TVs, which don’t support HDR10+, and all of Samsung TVs, which don’t support Dolby Vision, the TCL 55C735K will play the best version available of whatever source you feed it. The downside here is that, at 120 fps, the resolution is limited to 1440p and the TV doesn’t support proprietary GPU technologies like Nvidia G-Sync and AMD Freesync. The P635 is currently not in line for a UK release, but is a Google TV geared for the European market that’s a little more expensive than the P638 but has a largely similar feature list. You’ll find Dynamic Colour and Motion Clarity Pro (but no de-judder for the 60Hz display), along with the core HDR10 and HLG HDR support (no Dolby Vision) and the standard wide viewing angle. If you are looking for a TV that provides excellent picture quality and a range of features at an affordable price, the TCL 55C635K is a great choice. However, consider other higher-end models if you want a TV with more advanced features or better sound quality. Additionally, if you prefer OLED or MicroLED technology, there may be better choices than this TV. The TCL 55C635K is compatible with various devices and services, including Apple AirPlay and Chromecast. This allows users to stream content directly from their Apple or Android devices to the TV. Smart Features It is also the last of the models to share the same Google Smart TV platform in the UK as it does with its European counterparts, along with support for Apple HomeKit, Matter and Miracast (plus the more common TCL Home, Apple AirPlay 2, Chromecast and Google Assistant/Alexa companions. The smaller 43 and 50-inch models, along with the super-sized 85 and 98-inch are not yet prepped for the UK market but that could well change a little later down the line. The Core Features
The sound on the TCL 6-Series is perfectly acceptable. You won't hear the fine details in classical music or the spacious soundstage of a 5.1 surround system, but you won't have any complaints about the volume level either. The likes of the P638 may have similar alternatives or see tweaks to the features list in different regions. TCL 2022 TV line-up You won’t find a traditional Filmmaker mode, as TCL has its own Film mode (or Movie mode, depending on your region!) with the same intention of delivering the picture as originally intended, along with a Sport mode. Everything from the C735K and above also comes with Calman Ready 3D LUT colour calibration, along with Adaptive Picture and an ambient sensor. On the audio front, all but the cheapest LCDs come with Dolby Atmos as standard, with both the QLED and Mini LED models using an Onkyo sound system – with the C835 and C935 adding an extra channel or two, along with Adaptive Sound tech (the latter also found on the C735). To put the TCL 6-Series through its paces we tried tons of different content, from Night on Earth (available in Dolby Vision, no less) to the local news to see how the TV upscaled HD content to fill the 4K screen.
The 55C735K’s HDR tone mapping is good enough, too, to deliver reasonable amounts of subtle shading in the brightest HDR picture areas, avoiding the excessive bleaching out of these HDR picture areas that can sometimes afflict such affordable TVs.The TCL C735 is a good all-round workhorse TV designed to be used in normal lighting conditions and offers a good selection of connectivity, gaming features, HDR compatibility and smart TV. Used in this manner it comes recommended and has been scored with the market position and cost in mind vs. performance. Speaking of the legs, one neat addition this year is the ability to weave cables through the legs themselves, creating a less chaotic space free from wires. There have been some discrepancies with TCL’s more formal naming of its products, with several variations on the usual system seen around the regions as the company continues to expand into European and American markets. For the most part, UK and European users should see a largely familiar set up, with the likes of the 75-inch P638 getting the full title of 75P638K here in the UK. It drops things down to 60Hz with de-judder and Motion Clarity Pro, with the older IPQ processor using Machine Learning with SR rather than the Deep Learning capacity of those before it. You’ll also have to settle for Dolby Vision and HDR10+ with Dolby Vision IQ also limited to the C735 and above, but neither is a great loss if you don’t really need it. The TCL 55C635K is available in a 55-inch size option, a popular size for home entertainment setups. However, TCL offers other size options for those who prefer a smaller or larger display. This allows users to choose the size that best fits their needs and preferences. As well the FreeView Play perks of the Android Smart TV platform, the P735 also offers up TCL Home and Google Home, Google Duo and Google Assistant built-in, along with Alexa compatibility for hands-free voice control. There’s also support for Chromecast but no Apple AirPlay 2, while gamers can access Game Master with Stadia streaming titles and ALLM (down to 15ms), but not to the same 120Hz levels as the more expensive models.

As with several of the other manufacturers we’ve featured this year, there’s a clear progression in terms of both pricing and the ever-improving features list as you work your way from the cheapest TVs to the most expensive. This means you should be free to figure out your best option either by setting a budget and seeing what fits your limit, or by determining what features and specifications you need for your own viewing preferences and line-up your choices accordingly.
