Description

Is this not the absolute best model to come out of a starter box, ever? The sheer wow factor of this is up there in the thousands. Perhaps it’s even over 9000! (DBZ y’all). Hobgrot Slittaz: These malicious little brutes delight in eviscerating the foe with their slitta-knives and employing explosive devices pilfered from their duardin paymasters. These models come supplied with 20x Citadel 25mm Round Slotta Bases. Simply put, this is the biggest and best Warhammer Age of Sigmar boxed set that we’ve ever made. With two sizable armies – including all-new units and even a never-before-seen subfaction of the Orruk Warclans – a copy of the updated Warhammer Age of Sigmar Core Book with exclusive full-art cover, and more besides, it’s a truly epic set. Once again, expect this sprue to come in the entry-level starter set for AoS 3.0. Warhammer Age of Sigmar Dominion – Sprue E – Lord Imperatant with Gryph-hound

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Dominion Review - IGN

While Dominion is aimed at veteran hobbyists, it is still a great starting point for anyone looking to get into Warhammer Age of Sigmar with the latest edition. It won't be priced as a starter-set, but if you're interested in playing either the Stormcast Eternals or Kruleboyz, then this is a solid place to start, as all you need to add is a tape measure and dice. The miniatures are also push-fit, with only a few options for construction, so no glue required, which is perfect for the beginner hobbyist. Dominion Miniatures Finally for the heroes, the Knight-Vexillor with Banner of Apotheosis reminds us all of how awesome battle-standard bearers are, and how we should be seeing them in every army from here on out. And, like Indomitus, it contains some of the most fantastic-looking model sculpts ever created for its game – like, we’re talking staggering stuff. The new Thunderstrike Priest the Knight-Relictor is cheaper in cost. He has no built-in prayer on his warscroll but he does bring a new ability in that enemy Prayers and Invocations will not affect himself or friendly Stormcast wholly within 12” on a 4+ (rolled each time that unit would be affected). MonstersSwampcalla Shaman with 1x Pot-grot: Even for Kruleboyz, Swampcalla Shamans are foul creatures. These spell-flingers have an innate connection to the mires they inhabit, which they channel into noisome spells of debilitation while brewing up vile elixirs to aid their green-skinned kin. The model comes supplied with a Citadel 40mm Round Base and a Citadel 25mm Round Slotta Base. Meanwhile, the Kruleboyz of the Thondian swamplands are a malicious, spiteful breed of orruks whose presence has, until recently, been shrouded by the cloying mists of their home. Despite being new to the setting, the Kruleboyz can fight alone as an army in their own right or alongside any of the other forces from the Orruk Warclans, so they’re perfect for fresh (if such a word can apply to the Kruleboyz) and existing collections alike. Dominion includes a pair of hulking Killabosses – one riding a Great Gnashtoof, and the other accompanied by a Stab-grot – a Swampcalla Shaman and Pot-grot minion, a Murknob with Belcha-banna, three Man-skewer Boltboyz, 10 murderous Gutrippaz and 20 sneaky Hobgrot Slittaz. The Primaris Ancient Knight Vexillor Possibly the easiest model to build: everything clips together easily and there’s only one visible join line on the robe Waiting to greet you when you open Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Dominion is a bright mural of battle. Beneath it is sprue after sprue of plastic waiting to be clipped out, trimmed and glued together. When you’re done, you’ll have 58 of the finest plastic miniatures imaginable, enough to make two starter armies. I think, expect one (not two) of these sprues to come in the AoS 3.0 Starter sets that follow Dominion. Warhammer Age of Sigmar Dominion – Sprue C – Knight-Arcanum

Dominion is Almost At Hand, so Prepare For Sunday Preview – Dominion is Almost At Hand, so Prepare For

Knight-Vexillor with Banner of Apotheosis - The Knight-Vexillor is a support unit carrying the Banner of Apotheosis, which once per game can heal 3D3 wounds or return slain warriors split between three units. The banner also lets you reroll failed charge rolls for Stormcast units within twelve inches.

Off The Shelf

However cool the "Great Gnashtoof" is to play with, it can’t hold a candle to Yndestra. Indeed, more broadly, the Kruelboyz in the box struggle to keep up with their Stormcast opponents. And when you break it down, it’s not hard to see why: in the game's points system used to ensure two forces are roughly balanced, the included Stormcast models are worth almost a third more than the Orruks. Swampcalla Shaman and Pot-grot - The Swampcalla Shaman can summon mists that add one to the charge rolls of friendly units and subtract one from the charge rolls of enemy units, or they can give nearby friendly units a poison or elixir to boost their venom-encrusted weapons or raise their saves. Some Stormhosts add in new options for battleline, but we’ll just be looking at basic battleline choices here for ease, as they’ll work for any Stormhost. Expanding the Army Perhaps this could be improved with a little text next to each model name, listing the part numbers. Not convinced? Okay, I’ll do it below. If you are reading this review before building the models, let me know if this helped. It’s not an inspiring graph, but there’s a fairly decent spread in here. Praetors and Yndrasta are the real winners, while Annihilators are interesting, Lord-Imperatants and Knight-Vexillors both have use cases, and Vindictors are your bog standard vanilla battleline. The only real loser here is the Knight-Arcanum, who really just needs to go home and level up to become a Lord-Arcanum before being interesting again.
