In 2006, Graphix, a division of Scholastic, released a graphic novel version of the first novel, Kristy's Great Idea. The novel is a contemporary yet faithful adaptation illustrated by Raina Telgemeier, an Eisner Awards-winning author and illustrator. The series continued with the release of The Truth About Stacey, Mary Anne Saves the Day, and concluded with Claudia and Mean Janine. It’s also worth considering that there are 131 Baby-Sitters Club novels in the original series – plus dozens of spin-offs and 122 Baby-Sitters Little Sister novels. That’s a lot of material to adapt! So I finally got to this graphic novel version of the original book and there are multiple changes they made to this. While the overall plot is the same, numerous dialogues were either cut out or reduced greatly, which greatly helps in reading through at a faster pace. In doing so, they changed some of the wording a bit, possibly to give it a more "modern" update, along with the appearance of the girls as they wore clothing that resembles 2010s attire than 80s-styled. What I found to be a minor annoyance was that Scott was changed from a 17 year-old blonde lifeguard to a 15 year-old tanned brunette. Not sure if it's because a 13 year-old crushing on a 17 would sit uneasy today, but the way he's draw still makes him look older than 15. Additionally, conversations between Scott and Stacey were cut even more, so it didn't have the same impact as the original of a crush. In 1996 a computer game titled Baby-Sitters Club Friendship Kit was produced by Phillips Media. It had the main members of The Baby-Sitters Club represented in videos that played, which would introduce each feature. It took place in Claudia's room. As a kid I LOVED the Baby-Sitters Club and would often spend hours scouring the library for the next title. Honestly, I probably read the series longer than I should have (reading level-wise), but it always felt like visiting friends. While I have never wanted to be a babysitter, I loved the club idea. As a bossy creative kid this was right up my alley. The friendships in this book was something I had always wanted. This was a series I grew up with and was my favourite for a long time. Baby-Sitters Little Sister graphic novels I actually read Boy-Crazy Stacey, BSC #8, because I've been listening to the Babysitters Club Club podcast and that book was perfectly fine, but this graphic novel winnows the chaff from Boy Crazy Stacey into a more focused, and more realistic, drama about beaches, boys and babysitting. On April 30, 2019, it was announced that there are plans for a series of Baby-Sitters Little Sister graphic novels illustrated by Katy Farina and colored by Braden Lamb. The first graphic novel, Karen's Witch, was released on December 26, 2019. This was followed by Karen's Roller Skates which was released on July 7, 2020, Karen's Worst Day which was released on December 29, 2020.
