after everything is hardened I cut out as much foam and board as I could to make it as light as possible. Mine actually has a little foam in the arm are and on the top so that the stand will not break through. Hello! Welcome to Part 1 of my Build Log for my Big Daddy cosplay. Like MrsGryphon’s Little Sister costume, this is my first attempt at cosplay. We’ve done our fair share of creating other costumes – We’re big fans of the local annual zombie walk and regional Renaissance Festivals – but we figured the upcoming local con, SiouxperCon, would be a great time to try our hand at cosplay! To Create the Cage I used the 1 1/2" Bi-metal hole saw to make a hole on the top of the body, and also a hole in the center of the chest plate in line with the hole on the top. The easiest way to do this was to take on foam pipe and put one end in the top and take the other end and insert it into the chest plate hole. Adjust this to create the arc of the cage.

To sew the pants I made the legs I sewed two tubes as large as I could and then sewed a wide strip in between them to make a makeshift overall pant that has tie straps to hold them up. A neat video of the drill working on YouTube while we were posing for the Friday Night Costume Contest photos: As I placed the cardboard I tried to form the end shape of the body. your best bet is to cut you form down to a more permanent size at this point, so that there is only about a 2 -3" depth at the most from the cardboard to the top edge so that you don't go through as much expandable foam as I did. When I started planning my costume, I found myself headed into unknown waters. I’ve made a number of small, cobbled together props and some costume accessories over the years, but outside a few collaborations in college (building homecoming floats or making set pieces for charity events) I’ve never had a build on this scale . My most used methods for building things has, of late, involved 3D printing, epoxy, sanding, and painting. There was no way I’d be able to print this costume on my itty-bitty 3D printer, so I would have to try ( gasp!) something new!

After adding some details on the body with foam tape, more ureshell, and more resin, I had a finished form! If all of the Little Sisters have been either harvested or saved in a level, Big Daddies will wander to a vent like usual and bang on it. However, a Little Sister will not come out, causing the Big Daddy to groan in frustration and bang again before letting out a sad moan and walk away in an attempt to find another Little Sister. Rapture Daily Post Article about Suchong: " Move over Brigid Tenenbaum! With his ever-growing reputation for sci-entific breakthrough, Dr. Yi Suchong may have stolen your title! From the innovative new, drinkable Plasmids, to the creation of the big daddies who built our city, Rapture’s leading medical researcher has been the mind behind it all." Suchong suggested this idea to Andrew Ryan, knowing that becoming a Big Daddy was a "one-way street", but he fretted about being able to find suitable candidates. However, Ryan gave assurances that it would not be a problem. [5] While the true identities of most of the candidates were unknown, many were exiled criminals, the criminally insane, and political dissidents imprisoned in Persephone, which was under the management of Augustus Sinclair, the owner of the plasmid research company, Sinclair Solutions. With the help of Sofia Lamb, who was herself imprisoned at Persephone at that time and acting as a psychiatrist for the other inmates, Sinclair would send chosen test subjects from Persephone to both Fontaine Futuristics and Ryan Industries. Big Daddy - Looper The Untold Truth Of Big Daddy - Looper

A Dremel or similar rotary tool is helpful for shaping foam, engraving details, sanding seams, and adding “battle-damage” to your costume. The front flap was added using more insulation foam, and also given a coat of Ureshell and resin. After this was dry, I began hollowing out the foam and cardboard. After trimming the square edge off, I cut a disc from insulation foam to serve as the "ring" around the dome. This was constructed mainly out of PVC electrical conduit. This pipe is gray in color and takes heat and bending much better than standard white PVC tubing. I bought 40 feet of it for this project and ended up using about 35. At only ¢88/10 feet though, this was an easy buy. The rear tank was made from a 12" concrete tube with foam plugs on the top and bottom carved to a dome shape. The bands around the tank were made with foam tape coated in Ureshell.Since this is such a large project, I'll break down the build process into partitions: The main body, the dome, the drill arm, the dome cage, other details, and the final paintwork. I added velcro to the bottom outer edge of the pants to attach the pants to the shoes so that it kept a uniform look. After this was completed (and the foam given more drying time so it would retain its shape) the entire form was covered in stretch fabric. This smoothed out a lot of the lumpiness of the foam
