About this deal

>>Es wird bunt und wild und wunderbar!<< even though it's middle grade, the protagonists; petra, anaya, and seth, are teenagers, but they're not much else. they're defined by individual primary-color traits: seth is a new-here foster kid, petra is beautiful and popular and allergic to water, anaya is allergic to...everything, the girls were friends and now they are not, GO! Robyn (and Tiny Owl, I presume) came up with the urban setting too – I said nothing about where the girl lives, and I think it is brilliant Robyn has put her and her family in a flat, contrasting with the man’s house. Robyn wanted the gardener to be a woman, and I got a bit worried that all the female characters were nice but the main male character was not, so to make sure that was countered a bit I added the brother into the story, and I wanted to show he was loving too, so I have him kindly giving the man a hankie when he is crying. As the setting was now urban, when I first saw the sketches without colour I also was a little worried about the finished book not being bright and happy enough, but I absolutely love the way Robyn has used colour, and the contrast makes the flower, and the flowers in the flat, stand out all the more, just as a little bit of love can brighten up the whole world.

Read this! You won’t regret it! It made me laugh, it brought tears to my eyes, it made me happy— it made me feel just a whole wide range of emotions & the cherry on top was being in love with all the ADORABLE BAKING ART! I also found Seth and Anaya’s so wholesome. I will be displeased if it turns into romance. (And if there is a love triangle – lord help me.) I appreciated the portrayal of Seth as a kid living in foster care. It breaks the mold you often see of foster kids in middle grade.I read this at the end of April. With the pandemic, I found myself recognizing similarities between what was happening around me and what was happening in the book. Those moments where disaster slowly unfolds around the world felt acutely stressful. And it’s in the little things as well – a headline that references the economy shrinking as unnatural allergies hit workers, a character buying extra canned goods just in case… This is a true story about a family. About the power of love in the face of impossible. And about a little bird that saved an entire family from breaking apart after a tragedy. A heartbreaking story but also one of the most beautiful things I have known.

With the summer holidays, Ari dreams of leaving his city, his parents' bakery, going to live with friends and playing in a band. Ari's family owns a bakery that has fallen on hard times. They're struggling to make ends meet, hoping they won't have to close. Even though Ari loved baking with his father as a child, the last thing he wants to do now is spend his days slaving over hot ovens. He isn't quite sure what he wants to do now that high school is over, although he and his friends are talking about trying to make it with their band. But his parents need him to help them—for as long as it takes. Our story is deeply painful to share, but it is also beautiful and true...We have laughed till we cried and we have wept ourselves to sleep, for that is the nature of love.

J'ai beaucoup aimé ce livre, témoignage bouleversant d'une rencontre extraordinaire avec un ange tombé du ciel et qui un jour va retrouver ses ailes ! The Woekerkoppen or gardenheads. I wouldn't mind a garden on my head though. I wonder what kind of plants or garden would grow on my head. Since each person gets their own that fits their personality which had me delighted and laughing. How perfect that it matched people so wonderfully, even though some may want to deny their rotten nature. :P TL;DR Emotional. A good book. I'd recommend it to anyone. It's interesting, short, has lots of pictures, and tells a touching story which is not sugar-coated, nor defeatist. I preferred this infinitely to Me Before You. This might be an unfair comparison, since Me Before You is fiction, but Moyes is emotionally manipulative and sappy. The ending was terrible. This book is much better, and it's true (real) besides. Bloom is charming. Whether you are an animal-lover or a people-lover, this will hit the right notes. I could not get enough of this beautifully executed— both visually AND in written word— queer lovvveeeee story!!The book has some amazing photography and a powerful message of recovery and determination, yes it can be seen as being over sentimental but life is harsh enough as it is, its good to see a victory every now and again - and this is not to make like of what happened there is still a long way to go but at least now there is something worth fighting for. The need to be different and speak out, rather than saying nothing just to fit in, is perhaps the most dominant theme of this story, and in a world where the young often feel powerless this is a theme worth promoting. While this may come secondary to the love story, I believeGanucheauand Panetta capture the struggle of identity formation among young adults. The murky waters of that time period, the dreams that we have that others donot believe in, and the hesitations we donot want to name. The raw relatabilityofthis storyline pulls in readers to not only follow Ari and Hector as their love unfolds, but also to follow Ari and Hector as they make decisions for their lives. As they explore who they are and what they care about.
