After seeing the teaser for Bullet Train while at the theater earlier this year I was instantly in and decided it would be best viewed in my home theater environment. Based on the book by Kotaro Isaka it’s a grossly entertaining action comedy that wastes little time with upfront narrative/character building and opts to let you decide for yourself who to root for as things unfold. A limited edition 4k Blu-ray SteelBook edition of Bullet Train is also available (pictured above). The edition features unique artwork on a matte-finish metal case with nine collectible character cards of the main faces in the movie. Special Features complex textures to be revealed with striking ease and efficiency. The color spectrum is wonderful, too. There's a total sense of vividness and All Aboard the Pain Train: Stunts (1080p, 5:13): As the title suggests, this piece looks at the film's fight and stunt work inside the Select Stunt Previs – Included are about 4 minutes’ worth of some rehearsal footage with a window showing the final product. Interesting. Kind of.As with most Japanese films of the period, The Bullet Train is nicely shot, with great use made of the wide frame, on top of the odd creative angle or use of depth. The final shot (or second-to-final, to be pedantic) is particularly striking, though its unusual style was actually accidental.
