Lambrini Cherry Lightly Sparkling Wine 75cl - 365 Drinks Limited

The bubbly range currently includes five flavours: So Strawberry, Very Cherry, Truly Peach, Always Original and Skinny Original. Truly Peach (ABV 5%) was the first one I tried and it was so delicious! It’s so summery and fruity, sweet but not too sweet, and perfect enjoyed chilled in the sunshine. This has many uses, one being to make plastic soft-drink bottles (which may be used to incorrectly store antifreeze). Others include insulation and wrapping; ropes; carpets and clothing. And other things? The advertising for the product was changed in 2015 from the slogan "Lambrini girls just wanna have fun", by launching a new "Bring the Brini" marketing campaign. [13] L. M. McMartin, Toxicological Sci., 2011, 123, 374–383 (mechanism of DEG toxicity) I did love the So Strawberry (ABV 5%) one — it tasted like liquid strawberry, like summer in a glass. Delicious and and perfect for a girly get-together in the garden.

Propylene glycol is much less toxic but diethylene glycol has been implicated in a whole range of poisonings. Like ethylene glycol, it has a very high boiling point (244°C). The most famous diethylene glycol poisoning case occurred in September-October 1937, when an American drug company wanted to market sulphanilamide ( MOTM July 2011), a marvellous but somewhat insoluble antibiotic, in a liquid form. Their chief chemist, Harold Watkins, found that DEG was a very good solvent for sulphanilamide. He added red colouring and raspberry flavour, and the company sold it across the USA. Unfortunately he did no tests for toxicity. Around a hundred people, many of them children, died before it could be recalled. Watkins committed suicide. This led to the 1938 Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, which gave the FDA authority to test all new drugs, and 25 years later this Act prevented thalidomide ( MOTM July 2000) from being used in the USA. Yes, it is used as one of the two starting materials used in the manufacture of polyethylene terephthalate (PET, a.k.a. Dacron and Terylene, recycling symbol “1”). The diacid terephthalic acid (benzene-1,4-dicarboxylic acid) reacts with the diol ethylene glycol forming the polyester.Morton, Andy (23 June 2015). When it was still produced at Huyton Industrial Estate, a small team of factory workers churned out over 20,000 bottles of Lambrini in just one hour with the help of some impressive technology. This is according to an ECHO article published in 2015 describing the manufacturing process. F. Hernández, M. Ibáñez and J. V. Sancho, Anal. And that is down to the properties of the molecule, particularly its ability to form hydrogen bonds. Why is that? It’s very tasty and refreshing and is a less sweet option to the flavoured Lambrini drinks. The Skinny Original (ABV 3.5%) tastes very similar but has just half the amount of calories so is a great choice if you’re counting calories. It’s sweetened with sweeteneres which has a slight aftertaste but it’s very mild. It’s also got half the amount of alcohol compared to the Always Original so is a good choice for a drink to go with lunch for example. Because antifreeze is such an everyday chemical, some people get careless with it around the home. They store it in containers meant for other things, like containers meant for drinks – and not correctly labelled. People leave it around on garage shelves where children can find it. Spills are not always cleaned up. This means that pets and small children are especially at risk. A spoonful or so can be fatal to a cat or small dog. The lethal dose for an adult human is around 120 grams. Antifreeze usually is brightly coloured and the ethylene glycol gives it a sweet taste, making it attractive to young people. In some places a bitter tasting substance like denatonium benzoate is added to it to put people off, but some research has suggested that this is not successful. So it is possible for someone to be poisoned with antifreeze? The drink is iconic for being so cheap and is often regarded as being a "chavvy" beverage, with some young adults opting to drink it on the streets and at house parties. Lambrini was sold to Accolade Wines in 2021 which is when it ceased to be made by the Liverpool factory. As the catchphrase goes...Lambrini girls just want to have fun and now they're set to have even more fun, thanks to the launch of a new flavour of the famous drink. Although Lambrini is not a wine but a perry, it is a marketed more in the style of a wine than a traditional perry or cider. [8] Its marketing is targeted at women. [9] [10] The Committee of Advertising Practice published a new edition of their advertising code in 2005, and the campaign for Lambrini was the first to be found non-compliant. [11] The Advertising Standards Authority banned the ad in question for implying that the drink may bring sexual or social success. [12]
