About this deal

Silver-filled polyurethane adhesives are starting to appear on the market. They are two-part adhesives, so they either require mixing or they are supplied pre-mixed and frozen like the snap-cure epoxies. They offer high peel strength and flexibility. As they are silver filled, high levels of conductivity can be achieved (around 0.0001 Ohms∙cm to 0.0004 Ohms∙cm). An unfilled epoxy with independent heat-curing (60 minutes at 80°C) and light-curing (2 - 6 seconds at 60 mW/cm2) mechanisms. Complies with ESA (ECSS-Q-70 02) and NASA (ASTM E 595-93) outgassing requirements. You can create a line stencil by cutting a 1/8" or wider slot in a piece of cardboard and painting in the slot. To create resistors you should first test your mix between two wires taped an inch apart. Let it dry overnight before you measure the resistance. Even when slightly wet, the resistance will be higher. To create a resistor I use a mix of 1/2 graphite to 1 liquid glue or of 1 to 1. To increase the resistance add less graphite to the mix or make the line less wide or thinner or longer. To use, simply peel the tape and place it on the edge of the first piece of glass. Press it firmly down around the edge of the shape, taking extra care if the glass is sharp or jagged. Ensure that each new section of tape you apply overlaps with the last to avoid any gaps. Copper Tape for Walls The Panacol product line of Elecolit ® conductive adhesives are both electrically and thermally conductive adhesives. Elecolit ® conductive adhesives contain metallic filling materials, primarily silver flakes. This creates efficient energy flow and high conductivity.

This conductive glue is a fraction of the cost of any other conductive glue including "Wire Glue". You can mix it up in large quantities. As you can see, I have barely scratched the surface of what is possible with an inexpensive conductive glue and glued circuits. Perhaps these circuits could be silk-screened on. Maybe one could paint glue on a surface and then use a laser to remove where you don't want it to conduct and etch a circuit that way. Circuits can be constructed on various 2 and 3 dimensional surfaces including paper, cardboard, plastic, fabrics, and glass. As mentioned above, many components such as capacitors, diodes and transistors might also be constructed. Recently our quality engineers at EPR rejected a PCB after its standard soldering process. The reason: a bad soldered component (TDK Capacitor 150pF CGA3E2C0G1H151J080AD). After analysis it was clear that this particular part should be used for conductive epoxy glue instead of the standard soldering process, because it had AgPd plating on its terminals. What is conductive epoxy? Isotropic conductive adhesives are electrically conductive in all directions and are therefore ideal for die attach, chip bonding, attaching SMDs, etc. Anisotropic conductive adhesives only conduct electricity in one direction, so these are often used for very sensitive electronic components such as LEDs, LCDs, and RFIDs.One component epoxy adhesives are normally heat cured so take care to choose a cure schedule that won’t compromise sensitive electronic components. Snap-cure frozen epoxies are also popular for the electronics industry; these products require freezer storage and cure once they reach room temperature. These can be expensive to transport and store. A silver filled one-part epoxy can achieve conductivity as high as a similarly filled two-part epoxy. Looking Conductive Adhesives, then you have reached the right place. These adhesives are electrically conductive and are formulated from silicone or epoxy resin filled with metallics or conductive carbon fragments. Conductive adhesives are a liquid solution that can be applied to create a thin and flexible layer of highly electrical conductive material to an area or device. Our range of conductive adhesives are sourced from leading brands such as; 3M, Chemtronics, Electrolube, MG Chemicals and RS RPO. How do they work? Brush: A simple brush will be attached to the underneath of the lid or completely removable. The brush can then be used to apply smooth amounts of the adhesive to any surface area making it practical on all kinds of surfaces. A fast-curing epoxy (3 minutes at 150°C) with excellent compliance for larger die applications. Can be light-fixed in seconds for high-placement accuracy. Very long pot life of 7 days. Electrically conductive adhesives can be used to paint the inner surface of plastic boxes containing electronic devices. This makes a Faraday cage saving the internal components from electromagnetic radiation.

If just a small current is needed, a temperature-sensitive electronic element can be electrically connected to a circuit using an electrically conductive adhesive instead of soldering. Conductive Adhesives are used as an alternative to soldering in some cases and typically found in applications such as; suppliers of an extensive range of EMI shielding materials and components that include conductive adhesives, Henkel’s LOCTITE® range of conductive adhesive for electronics offer strong component and PCB interconnections for on-demand, long-term, and reliable performance. Our broad portfolio of electrically conductive pastes is formulated using a variety of base chemistries including acrylate, epoxy, and silicone platforms, each of which is designed to provide manufacturers with choice and flexibility for varying requirements.Although copper tape is not intended specifically for use on walls, some people have adopted it as a means of creating attractive, decorative wall art. Due to its high levels of versatility, copper foil can easily be adapted and shaped to suit a variety of patterns and designs. Electrically conductive adhesives are primarily used for electronics assembly. These adhesives are ideal for electrical interconnect but also for thermal and structural bonding applications, offering improved reliability in electronic systems. Because this glue is quite flexible and you can vary its resistance, it has potential for different kinds of paint on sensors for robots or other devices. It should be possible to paint on strain gauges on the outside of a regular glove and use it for virtual reality or other control possibilities. Touch sensors and membrane switches can be painted on various flexible or rigid surfaces.

Suitable for fine-pitch flip chip interconnections where electrical conductivity is desired in only one directionSoldering is a relatively straightforward process, but it is important to solder safely and ensure the correct equipment and soldering iron tip is used to create a secure join. Safety is essential so always make sure you are fully prepared for the task before using soldering equipment. Copper Tape for Shielding A high viscosity unfilled epoxy with independent heat-curing (60 minutes at 80°C) and light-curing (5 - 10 seconds at 60 mW/cm2) mechanisms. Nature of the materials being bonded and level of adhesion required. For example, joint design, the strength required, any differential thermal expansion and contraction, thermal conductivity, glass transition temperature, and flexibility requirements. There are a number of reasons electrically conductive adhesives might be a more suitable alternative to other methods of bonding and adhesion. These high-performance adhesives are often used as an alternative to solder in applications where the components being bonded are temperature sensitive. Given the cure temperature of an ECA is far below that of relfow temperatures, this opens the door to sensitive componentry, less energy usage, and flexibility of processing Elecolit ® conductive adhesives are relatively simple to apply. With the appropriate selection of filler type, they can be dispensed through automated valves, high speed “Jet” dispensing systems, and screen printing.

An unfilled epoxy ideal for fast-curing applications: 2 minutes at 150C. Ideal for Smart Card applications.

What Are Thermally Conductive Adhesives?

While I have experimented with at least 157 different chemicals, metals, solvents, or elements, I have not tried most of them with the liquid tape. So there is ample room for those of you who like to experiment to improve upon the mix. The lubricating graphite resulted in a resistance equal to the graphite from a chemical supply. However, it is quite a bit more expensive for the amount of glue you get. If you just want to see if it works or only need a small amount of glue, it works fine.
