Croyd usually is a lovable rogue with a charming, down-to-earth attitude and a disarming sense of humor. He is capable of violence, but mostly he only harms those who deserve it. He has adopted a deadpan attitude to all the strangeness that is his life. After decades of witnessing weird events, there is little he hasn't seen. Most of the time, while he sees nothing wrong in doing something illegal, Croyd is a moral person with a sense of honor. Croyd is one of the most unusual wild carders. He sleeps for weeks, sometimes months, lapsing into a sort of hibernation. While he sleeps, his body slowly transforms, and he wakes up with a new appearance and new powers. Sometimes he wakes up as a powerful ace, sometimes as a hideous joker. When he is an ace, Croyd usually has superhuman strength, endurance, and speed, and also one other power that is different every time. Croyd has manifested many different abilities with the years: invisibility, flight, mind control, precognition, ice generation, and sonic projection are just some of them. When he wakes up, Croyd usually isn't sure what his powers are this time around, and must perform several little experiments to discover them. Being a popular destination for holiday makers, Croyde has lots of activities to help you experience a real adventure during your stayThere is plenty to keep you busy on park too, from splashing around in the indoor swimming pool to burning off energy on the adventure playground, before winding down for the evening in our bar and restaurant. Caravan and Lodge Holidays Croyd's powers resemble comic book characters like Dial H for Hero, but a more obvious influence may be Franz Kafka's "The Metamorphosis." The nearest railway station is Barnstaple, 10 miles (16km) away. From Monday to Saturday, there is an hourly bus service to Croyde from Barnstaple, with a two-hour frequency on Sundays.

Wild Cards Volume II: Aces High - "Ashes to Ashes" (Croyd is hired to do an unusual job for Jube the Walrus) The surfing capital of North Devon with great family facilities and a vibrant, friendly atmosphere, the pretty village of Croyde is one of North Devon’s most renowned seaside locations. Croyde Bay is a haven for surfing, with lessons at the Croyde Surf Academy or Surf South West on offer to test your skills.A range of other watersports are also available, though if you do visit in the summertime, look out for GoldCoast Oceanfest, a small surf and music festival.A large dune system has formed past the high-tide mark. Sand underlies the land surface between the beach and the centre of Croyde village, 600 yards (550m) to the east. The beach forms the middle section of a trio of sandy beaches north of the Taw Estuary. Three-and-three-quarter-mile-long (6.0km) Saunton Sands is 2⁄ 3 mile (1.1km) to the south, and 1.8-mile-long (2.9km) Woolacombe Sands, divided into Putsborough and Woolacombe beaches, is 0.93 miles (1.50km) to the north. Barbecues and contained fires are not permitted on Croyde beach. One of the most popular walking trails in the village is the National Trust’s Baggy Point, which makes for some excellent coastal walking and has breath taking views as well as being generally accessible for walkers of all ages and abilities. The village itself remains largely unspoiled from time gone by and has an old world feel to it which is well respected by the surfing community and holiday makers as well as residents. The centre is a hub of lovely places to stay and eat with many of the eateries offering locally sourced, seasonal produce on their menus. Charming family friendly destination The nearest airport to the village is Exeter International Airport, the second-closest being Bristol International. In the 60s, about 150M south east of Withywell Lane, a Royal Observer Corps (ROC) bunker was constructed due to rising tensions with the Soviet Union and the need to watch the skies all over the UK for Soviet planes and or nuclear bombs / missiles. The bunker was disbanded in the 90s after the end of the Cold War and now sits in disrepair.
