Description

The same applies to the Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU, but perhaps to an even greater extent. This GPU has consistently proven itself to be faster than even the highest recorded scores of its HD 3000 counterpart in nearly every situation. This leaves little doubt that the notebook should be able handle most any low- to mid-range graphical task with no trouble. Additionally, with ExpressCharge, you can charge the battery in Dell Latitude E5430 fully in less than two hours. The Dell Latitude E5430 laptop uses Intel’s third-generation Ivy Bridge Processors. The laptop comes with two CPU options. Two Nanya 2 GB DDR3-1600 RAM modules (4 GB total) came installed in our review unit, which is more than enough for most users. But with the extremely low prices of DDR3 RAM and the considerable ease of upgrading components in the Latitude E5430, it’s easy to justify a higher amount. Fortunately, up to 16 GB of RAM is supported (8 GB per slot), so there should be no trouble reaching a sufficient number. Since 1982, PCMag has tested and rated thousands of products to help you make better buying decisions. See how we test.

In addition, I ran a PCMark 10 test to determine the laptop’s memory performance. The laptop received a score of 3900 points on the test. Finally, you have the option to get a model of the laptop with a 128 GB Solid State Drive (SSD)for a slightly higher price. The laptop I reviewed came with a 4 core Intel Core i7-3520M processor. I ran a Geekbench 5 test to determine the processor’s performance. The Latitude E5430 was subjected to the same rigorous system performance evaluations as the rest of our test candidates, and that includes PCMark synthetic benchmarks. Here, the notebook continues to shine, turn in scores of 8011 and 3054 in PCMark Vantage and PCMark 7, respectively. While the PCMark 7 score is actually a notch higher than that of the 15-inch Latitude E5530, the Vantage score of 8011 is 8% below that of the E5530 (which scored an 8720). Regardless, these are nonetheless impressive scores that should serve as encouragement no matter what your intended use. The anti-glare screen is a mixed bag. Yes, it will prevent screen reflections from fatiguing your users' eyes, but the screen is also a little dull looking next to newer ultrabooks.

Nonetheless, its size is scarcely limiting when you consider its well-designed form factor. Despite the weight and size, it feels comfortable on the lap.

The Dell Latitude E5430 laptop has two RAM slots with a total capacity of 16GB – 8GB in each slot. The device I tested came with 8 GB of RAM in one slot and no RAM in the second slot. Early last year, our review of the Dell Latitude E5420 expressed our appreciation of its sturdy construction, first-rate keyboard and touchpad, great battery life, and practical design—elements which have become synonymous with the Latitude brand. Still, we were left dreaming of a higher-quality screen, less noise under load, and USB 3.0. Does the E5430 answer our call? The Latitude E5430’s optional fingerprint readerprovides biometric authentication that is also remotely administrable if desired, while TPM 1.2and smart card enrollmentare available for an added cost. Meanwhile, self-encrypting hard drives, which are mainstays in many modern enterprise environments, are also an option. The Dell Latitude E5430 looks every bit like an old-school mainstream business laptop. It comes with a dark grey surface bisected by a silver bezel surrounding the chassis. To further evaluate the performance of the laptop with these graphics cards, I ran a 3DMark 11 benchmark test. The Dell Latitude E5430 laptop received 689 points as a result of the test.

These battery optionshave a feature called ExpressCharge. This is a term used by Dell to describe a circuitry that allows the battery to charge faster than usual. Furthermore, ExpressCharge batteries may reach a maximum charge of more than 80% in just one hour of charging. There are plenty of old-school internal expansion slots, I/O connections, and a DVD drive on this laptop. If you still have a large archive of material on DVD, the DVD drive will be useful.
