When 80-HD is about to reattach the door on Petey and Son's, the stripes on his arms disappear. A similar error also occurs in Dog Man to Petey. Li'l Petey and Molly's songs are parodies based on Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Take Me Out to the Ball Game, and If You’re Happy and You Know It. Petey is having trouble too, as all the T.V. shows are stupid. His car is ruined thanks to his mechanics literally filling up the car with petrol. He can't even live well in his lab because his butler is stupid. When Petey tells him to take out the trash, the butler takes it on a date. Petey hates being the only smart person on the planet. The cops finish singing happy birthday to Chief, and give him the presents. First, Chief opens the Supa Brain Dots. He asks who got him these, and the Bully Officers said they did because Chief is forgetful. Chief yells at the cops, and they apologize. Afterwards, Chief asks who got him the dots again, making the cops zong off the panel in dumbfoundment. Then, Dog Man reveals the fish from a box. Chief says he always wanted a fish, puts it on an orange stool with stripes, and names it Flippy. One of the cops reminds Chief to take the dots. Chief reads the instructions, and they say: " Don't take a lot... never more than a dot. Or something may happen... we ain't saying what." Chief takes one dot, and goes to Lunch. He slams the door way too hard. and the dots fall into Flippy's bowl. The book says that Flippy's brain grew eleven sizes, as he smiles an evil grin. Chapter 4: The Big Robbery [ ]

Meanwhile, the police are doing stupid things. A police officer runs to Chief, saying someone pooped in his office. Chief tells Dog Man to solve the crime, but he can't. In December 2021, a reprint of the first Dog Man book was released with a cover when you move the book, it changes Dog Man to The Bark Knight. However, The Bark Knight wasn't released until Dog Man and Cat Kid. This is the first Dog Man book not to feature a George & Harold intro or a recap of "Our Story Thus Far."
Dog Man arrives at the police station and the Mean Officers start bullying him because of his cone. Dog Man presses the button on the top, which causes him to change into his Mecha-Suit. The mean officers run away in fright after this encounter, and they hide behind the plant Dog Man usually hides behind. Dog Man turns off the Mecha-Suit and discovers that Chief is writing a love letter to Nurse Lady. Dog Man doesn't like the letter, and expresses this by blowing a raspberry. Chief crumples it up and throws it away and admits that he'll always be alone. Dog Man then comforts Chief after realizing what he's done.

A collection of evil stuff can be seen when Petey shows Sarah Hatoff his dangerous items. These are references to the past books in the series.The musical interlude in Chapter 1 is a parody of the song, "The Greatest Love of All" by Michael Masser, with lyrics by Linda Creed. Petey eventually misses his clone, the only being who ever showed him love, but by the time he goes looking for him it's too late. Dog Man has already found Li'L Petey, and instinctively protects him from a world of threats. Dog Man isn't the kitten's "Papa", but he cares for him as Petey refused to, and their bond is set for life. Could Dog Man and the original Petey have hit it off this well if Petey hadn't been corrupted years before their paths crossed? The older cat invents an 80-Hexotron Droidformigon (80-HD...think about that a moment), and kidnaps Li'L Petey from Dog Man's doghouse. The kitten isn't physically capable of the criminal activities Petey at first had in mind for him, but the 80-HD body suit gives him supernatural strength. How deep, though, does Dog Man's influence over Li'L Petey run? Chief is very surprised that Dog Man is wearing a cone. He takes Dog Man home, and Nurse Lady says she notices (and likes) Chief's slippers. Chief is happy (although, his expression looks like he has a crush on Nurse Lady). Chief leaves, and Dog Man describes how the day went to Li'l Petey and 80-HD. Both try to assure him that everything is gonna be okay and leave the "Supa Pillow Fort." They then go up to the grand ballroom. Meanwhile, Dog Man is chewing his bone at his cop cubicle until he gets a phone call from Sarah Hatoff saying the pet store crook didn’t steal money. He only stole little treasure chests. Sarah was asking if Dog Man knows what the treasure chests were made of and he thinks they are made of wood, so he says ”Bark!” but they were made out of plastic. And Sarah said that they just wrote a story on it on their news blog.

During the morning at the cop station, Dog Man's trying to get Milly attention by acting "obnoxious." She yells at Dog Man but notices that Dog Man was trying to tell her that it's Chief's birthday. She proceeds to call the cops for a meeting. At the meeting, Gloria decides to bake a cake, a cop we'll call "Baxter" decides to make a card, and Buster and another cop decide to handle the decorations. MiIIy asks for suggestions for presents. She says that Chief is forgetful, so Baxter decides to get him "Supa Brain Dots." The cops think of more gifts, but one says Chief is lonely, so he decides to get a pet for him, which Baxter decides a fish. Baxter says that fish are awesome pets, and Buster says that they aren't "filthy and obnoxious like dogs," thus, hurting Dog Man's feelings. Milly puts Dog Man in charge of getting a fish, but not a dead one. Dog Man gets excited, so he flips, proceeding to a Flip-O-Rama. Dog Man runs to the pet store. On his way, Chief arrives, but in Dog Man's excitement, he trips Chief over. George and Harold have created a new breed of justice. With the head of a dog and the body of a human, this heroic hound digs into deception, claws after crooks, rolls over robbers, and scampers after squirrels.
