Ravynne Phelan has a distinctive and unique art style – it is highly stylised and very detailed. When she depicts the natural environment she uses a 'realistic’ pallette, however when she depicts otherworldly beings she ventures into spectacularly imaginative colour schemes. Ravynne’s artworks, as noted before, absolutely glow – her Minor Arcana is colour-coded with Earth featuring rich greens, Air delivery by icy pastels, Fire with glowing oranges and yellows, and Water by deep indigo and pale blue. The Dreams of Gaia Tarot is for those who desire unity within themselves, their relationships, and with heaven and earth. It is for those who wish to explore, and develop a keener understanding of “self,” as well as those who seek to commune with the spirit realms and the Divine. Seek – reveal the answers to the questions within. Learn who you were, who you are, and who you wish to become. The tarot will help you communicate with the Divine, and your inner self; know your conscious mind, and explore the unconscious forces – the hard-wired beliefs and patterns that influence your behavior and choices. Knowledge is power. Self-knowledge and awareness are the keys to empowerment. The Knights of each suit have been replaced with archetypal figures mean to correspond to the suits’ energies. They are the Seneschal (Earth), Scribe (Air), Hero (Fire), and Counsellor (Water). I’ll admit, I had to look up the word “ seneschal” (it’s a medieval administrative post). Ravynne has embraced a very integral form of treatment - a regimen of supplements to combat nutritional deficits, cognitive behaviour therapy, mindfulness, meditation, structured routine, healthy work ethic, diet, and sleep patterns - but, life can throw curveballs on occassion and when she split from her long-time partner in 2015, the stress of the split, finishing the Dreams of Gaia Tarot and several other projects resulted in another minor episode in early 2016, confirming the diagnosis of Bipolar. At this time, Ravynne is looking after herself and recovering well. Unfortunately, Ravynne's progress has been further slowed due to her having developed cataracts that have begun to impact on her ability to see properly. She is on the hospital waiting list to have them removed, but due to COVID-19 and delays across the country with elective surgeries, she has no idea how long she will be waiting. She has, however, adapted to this new reality and is continuing to work as well as she can.

The major arcana is divided into four sub-sections: The choice card, eight cards representing the stages of life, eight cards representing the reasons for being(what we are here to achieve and why we are here), and eight cards representing influence(things that affect and impact the way that we make choices.) The Minor Arcana The Stages Of Life – These cards represent the different stages that we move through as we live our lives. Every stage of life from birth to death is represented here and they relate to things we have lived or things that have influenced how we live. The minor arcana represents the temporary things that you may be experiencing in your life at any given time. The print quality is outstanding, the images are clear with crisp lines and the gorgeous colours positively glow. The guidebook can seem a little bit drawn out and repetitive for readers who prefer brief and easier to read explanations.I think this section can be used as you see fit. There is some really good stuff to be found under this heading that might be missed if you ignore this section because you don’t read reversals. As you may have guessed, I don’t read with them. If you do I respect that and I would encourage everyone to read however works for you. That should be a given. Now onto the Minor Arcana. It’s presented in a similar fashion to the Majors. The cards are grouped in their suits with keywords, key phrases and meanings for both the upright and reversed positions. The only difference is that there’s only one set of meanings provided rather than the past, present, future groupings found for the Majors. Spreads

For example, card XXII, Intuition, depicts a cloaked woman sitting on a golden throne. In her right hand, she cups a sphere. Inside the sphere is the cosmos. Sitting atop the sphere is an owl. In the foreground, there is a spider’s web which contains a spider and a full moon. This is the card of the unconscious mind and intuitive skills and feelings.
