I’ve actively been testing and reviewing vacuum cleaners of all kinds for the last six years and have learnt what to look for when choosing a machine that’s best for different kinds of homes. I also place high importance on value for money in any appliance I test. Unlike both the Gen5detect and the V15 Detect, I find the V15s Detect Submarine a lot easier to move around, no matter which cleaning head I’m using. According to Dyson’s spec sheet, the Complete model weighs 3.8kg, compared to the V15 Detect at 3.1kg and the Gen5detect at 3.5kg. I think that’s a mistake as it feels lighter than the V15 Detect in the hand, and the Submarine roller just makes it super easy to drag along a floor. I’ve tried measuring the machine myself on a weighing scale, but because I have to hold it in place, the measurements aren’t accurate and come in at just under 3kg, which can’t be right either. The attachment can drain the battery due to the heaviness of the pads. Don’t expect to be able to clean an entire room—you will have to recharge it before that happens.

I predominantly bought this part to vac my floor because the head on the Dyson keeps scratching my wooden floor boards. I can’t seem to get a confirming response if that is what this product can do. Are the round pads only for mopping or do they work for vacuuming only?You have to place the pads properly on the mop head, otherwise, they can brush against each other, which isn’t what you want when you’re trying to clean the floor. Keep in mind, however, that they don’t spin that much even with proper alignment. They’ll work, but you’ll probably want more power if you’re dealing with big stains or messes. The Dyson Hard looks confusing. Like the company’s cordless vacuums, the Hard sees a battery-powered vacuum cleaner extended by a ridged, metre long suction tube. Image credit: TechRadar / Sharmishta Sarkar) Dyson V15s Detect Submarine review: price and availability Considering the V15s Detect Submarine is Dyson’s first vacuum mop, I think the company has done quite well. The appliance’s vacuuming skills are, as before, quite good. It’s the same vacuuming performance we saw from the V15 Detect, just quieter. So carpets are well taken care of, as are hard floors. The dynamic suction we’ve seen in the last few Dyson models is here, so most users will only need to leave the machine in Auto mode and it will do its thing and, as before, I still think the Digital Motorbar is the catch-all tool for any kind of floor. However, if it’s mostly fine dust in your home and you don’t have pets, then the Fluffy Optic that ships with the Complete model is good and no longer the novelty that I thought it was when I tested the V15 Detect. This is a great product and does the job well. The only little issue I have is the size of the water tank, could be bigger.

Convenient to Use: The mop head attachment is super convenient to use. Just attach it to your Dyson vacuum when you want to mop and you’re ready to go.Note: The electric mop head attachment is just an attachment; it does not come with a water container or tank. In other words, you’ll have to manually wet the pads yourself. We recommend using a spray bottle filled with a cleaning solution. With that said, you can also use it dry to polish your floors. Build Quality Dyson advises that you follow the manufacturer’s dilution ratio instructions to determine how much water to cleaner to use. I hoped for better for this attachment. There are barely any instructions so I’m not sure if I’m using it correctly. It looks like you stand on the red button & it sprays water, however, mine just drips a bit. There is nothing to say what the small thing in the picture is. You have to go over the floor multiple times as it leaves a line between the two pads. I’ve attached mine to the V10 & it fits no problem & also does actually vacuum at the same time. Not a fan of mopping? You can always get an electric mop. Instead of doing the work yourself, all you have to do is press a button. The mop pads will start to spin and it’ll clean the floors for you. You just have to apply a cleaner. This exceptional attachment can be used on any floor type, including vinyl, wood floors, laminate flooring, tiles, and shiny porcelain.

Water can get inside the vacuum if you’re not careful and that can damage the motor over time. How Well Does It Clean? Maintaining the Submarine is easy as the velvet roller comes off and is fully washable, and you can rinse out the entire cleaning head – press a marked red button and the two parts slide apart. Note: This mop must not absorb water directly. You can spray clean water on the floor, or the mop head to clean it, or moisten the mop first and wring out the water before mopping the floor.During my testing, I managed to get 62 minutes in Eco mode, but I wasn’t quite enthused by the clean I got in this mode. On the other hand, Boost is great for carpets but you can expect to run out of juice in about 8 minutes. This excellent attachment is fully motorised, so it does not use your suction to spin, giving it fast-spinning ability and will not slow down under slight pressure like other similar tools do!
