About this deal

It’s Alana Carmichael’s wedding day, what should be happiest day of her life. This is no fairytale wedding. It’s her worst nightmare. She’s marrying The King of LA, the head of the Montoya crime family.

He growls and shouts unnecessarily which leads me to question if our author actually imagined what the scenes she creates look like? Because half the time, how our characters are depicted to say a line, does not match the feeling of the scene or the pre developed emotions thrumming the scene along. You growl when you’re frustrated, as a sexual thing, annoyed- something. Nothing that makes sense and has already been established leads to this man growling. It just comes off as weird and as if you just heard that growling men are a thing in erotic novels so you make your male protagonist growl for any nonsense that happens or doesn’t happen or make sense. Like he’s a damn werewolf or something.Alejandro is a violent criminal who dominates the Underworld and he marries Alana for a business deal, his father forces him into.

Samantha calls Gabriel her angel. The things they do together may feel heavenly but they are certainly not angelic. He feels like the devil and he knows he’s not good enough for her but he just can’t walk away; she needs his help. Her life may depend on it. This book will never be finished. The writing is not good, the premise, story, or characters- it just wasn’t good. Alana is a good person, I like at least that about her. But I’m unable to fall into that because, even if it’s not from Alana’s perspective, the author is truly overdoing it with trying to depict Alana like “she’s not other girls” through Alejandro’s perspective. It ruins it. Like, we don’t need comparison for her to be a wonderful person that Alejandro didn’t expect. But alas, instead of showing us through beautiful language, plot and writing, that author finds the basic-est way to “prove” that Alana isn’t…Sadie Kincaid burst onto the romance novelist scene like a force of nature. Successfully breaking into the romance genre with the first book is a huge accomplishment and in two short years Ms. Kincaid has established herself as a romance writer with hot, steamy, sexy stories to be read. As she gets to know this stranger, this powerful man, a gradual awareness comes over her that maybe he isn’t the total monster she has been led to believe he is. Their shared secrets of their pasts leads her to discover he may be an ordinary man and possibly worthy of her attention. I made my way to the dining room and wondered if I was going to regret my decision to eat dinner with my new wife, and whether I would regret even more allowing her to choose the meal. A few hours later, the three of us were sitting on the patio. We’d eaten a beautiful lunch and Maria had regaled me with dozens of stories of Alejandro as a child. He had rolled his eyes throughout and admonished her for the more embarrassing ones, but she had simply laughed and told him not to be so grumpy.

Of course, the FMC isn’t the spoiled princess he assumes she is. She’s kind enough to play nice with his mom. She ditches the faux charity crew of Stepford Wives for an actual needy charity cause. Her favorite meal is a burger, not a salad. This is sold as hate to love. Problem: There’s no actual hate. There’s no reason to dislike each other. Neither know a thing about the other. While they both internal dialogue how much they dislike the other, there’s 1) no reasoning 2) their actions don’t match. They’re civil, respectful, even kind to each other all while internally reminding how much they dislike each other’s sexy asses or shouldn’t (FFS why?) actually give realness to the marriage. For our part, Alejandro and I had played the adoring couple, and I took the opportunity to flirt outrageously with him every chance I got.” It does end in a cliffhanger and I was annoyed and depressed when it finished. I havent read a good Mafia/Dark Romance book in awhile and I can't wait for more.

I swallowed as they drew nearer. What if she hated me? What if she was one of those mothers who never thought anyone was good enough for her son? Why the hell did I even care?

The next Ruthless series is set in Los Angeles amongst the barrios and mafia crime families. The Fierce King reveals the seamier, barbaric, menacing side of the City of Angels. Starts with an arranged marriage taking place. I kind of feel like I stepped into the middle of this book 😬… but it’s not some big mystery, which makes it easy to follow. Nutshell: She hates him but is hot for him / he hates her but is hot for her .. meets forced proximity of arranged marriage. In the first of Ms. Kincaid’s Ruthless series, all located in large cities, London Ruthless starts with Dark Angel. Gabriel Sullivan is a calculating, ruthless man, at the top of his game. Always getting what he wants, he moves in a dark, dangerous world and he’s at the top of his game.

Alana is marrying Alejandro but not for love. She is marrying to save her father’s life. She will never love this monster of a man. Bow down to this king? Never. Alejandro Montoya is the King of the LA underworld. Alana Carmichael has just become his wife. It was good for business, he needed an heir and she was trying to keep her father out of prison. Ryan Renewed is a fifth entry in the Ryan Rule series. A dark mafia romance, it starts after the end of the Ryan reign. A complete story on its own, it doesn’t affect the how you read the first four books or the ending of the fourth story.
