Galaxy Watch4 Classic has a water resistance rating of 50 meters under the ISO standard 22810:2010. It is not suitable for diving or high-pressure water activities. If the device or your hands are wet, they must be dried thoroughly prior to handling. Each model is also IP68 water- and dust-resistant, which means you can take them into water up to five meters deep. A word about the supplied watch band though – it’s made of a new material that may not handle intense workouts well, as we found it left something of a rash on our wrist.

For best results in detecting and recording snoring, place your smartphone on a stable surface near your head with the bottom of the smartphone pointed to your head. Sadly, the move to Wear OS isn’t altogether a resounding success. You’d hope that a Samsung watch powered by Wear OS would enable faster, easier setup on any Android device, but that’s simply not the case. On the contrary, you still need to install a whole host of Samsung apps on your Android phone to use the Galaxy Watch 4, including Galaxy Wearable, Samsung Health and Samsung Pay. Introduced alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, the Galaxy Watch 4 is joined by a Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic– you should look at that smartwatch if you want a physical rotating bezel, which is the major difference between the two devices. Users should measure their blood pressure when at rest, as they would do with a traditional cuff, and refrain from measuring when they are working out, smoking, or drinking.

The headline here is that the Galaxy Watch 4 employs Google’s Wear OS software in place of Samsung’s own Tizen OS, but this isn’t Wear OS as you might know it. In fact, this “powered by Samsung” version feels quite different to Wear OS on other Google-based smartwatches. There’s 16GB of storage on both models of the Galaxy Watch 4. We found that about 8GB of this was taken up with the OS and preloaded apps, which leaves you with the same again for your own apps and music. The Watch 4 Classic is slightly larger at 42mm or 46mm, has a stainless steel case and rotating bezel; the plain Watch 4 comes in 40mm and 44mm sizes and has a low-profile touch bezel and an aluminium case, as found on the Galaxy Watch Active Series. It's also worth noting that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 will probably land in or around August 2022, so you might want to consider waiting for that. If you want a larger smartwatch with a physical rotating bezel, you’ll want to opt for the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. That’s a separate product line this time, although a lot of the specs are similar between that device and this one. ECG and BP feature only to be used by 22 years+. For accurate BP readings, a calibration is required every 4 weeks by BP monitor & arm cuff. Requires a Galaxy smartphone running Android 7.0 or above. Device activation is only available after connecting to a smartphone that supports Google Mobile Services(GMS). We also found the GPS features worked well when we took the watch running with accurate positioning when compared to other devices. Tizen has been the focus of Samsung’s software efforts in recent years, and the software running on the Galaxy Watch 4 looks similar to it. The big fitness changes come in the form of a new 3-in-1 BioActive Sensor that enables the watch to monitor heart rate, blood oxygen levels and body composition. The last in that list is the only new feature, but this is the first time the sensors have been combined.
