The trim is the material on the front of the door, surrounding it and creating a termination point for the siding Ideally, the trim that wraps the garage door should match the trim used on the rest of the home in terms of style and color. So, fiber cement in most conditions will be strong enough to be a suitable garage door wrap. Due to its cementitious nature, the ends jamb legs can be closer to concrete than any wood product per the manufacturer’s recommendations. Even though they weren’t in as bad a shape as the pillar and garage door trim due to being under the covered porch, we decided to paint the front door trim and the garage ‘man door’ trim as well.
