Always so understanding and kind to Shey, I loved that he always supported her and gave her the space she needed even if it hurt, the beautiful relationship these two created was just a caress to my soul, I love them so much šŸ¤§ sheyanne my girl. i love her so so much i want to give her the biggest hug. she is the strongest character i have ever read about and she deserves everything. i related to sheyanne in many different aspects it felt like she was me. the way she grew and came to love herself iā€™m so proud of her. The Golden Hour is historical fiction that mainly follows two women decades apart while slowly but surely weaving their stories together. We first meet Elfriede in a Swiss clinic where she was sent after she can't feel anything for her newborn and talks about a darkness that dwells in her. Today we would call it postpartum depression but in the early 1900s, no one quite knows what to do with her. There she meets an Englishman recouping from pneumonia and they have a soulmates connection but with Elfriede still married, they can't really act on anything.

War, betrayals, family drama and politics are very difficult to be written within a book without a lot of researches so Williams has managed to bring us a very rich and powerful novel that will make you tear lots of times! The main character of the book is Lulu, who heads to the Bahamas in the early 1940s! Royalty, murder investigation, romance is so well crafted in the Lulu parts of the book! These moments are really suspenseful and in the meantime romantic! As a carer in an Aged Care facility, this god damn broke me watching her father decline because I see it every day. I see older people every day not remember those closest to them or what they had for dinner, or what theyā€™re doing in that place. It was heart breaking seeing it in a perspective of a family member and I just feel like I need to give my family a big hug and even the ones at work. Before you turn on the television, radio, or read the newspaper, take 30-60 minutes and read something motivational, such as these inspirational quotes or something that is educational. Be sure that the first thing you put into your mind in the morning is positive, healthy, and consistent with the kind of life you want to lead. Sebastian lives on a grass-fed cattle farm outside town, and Manuel finds solace in the open fields and the antics of the newborn calf Sebastian is hand-raising. As Manuel aides his new friends in their preparations for the local county fair, he learns to open up, confronts his deepest fears, and even finds first love. Oh how I adore this author, her gorgeous writing, compulsively readable plots, stunning covers, and I wondered, ā€œCan she do it again?ā€ Indeed she can and she did with THE GOLDEN HOUR, set inventively in Nassau, WWII intrigue swirling ā€˜round the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, multilayered plot lines also weaving in the War to End All Wars. Plus this stunning publisherā€™s note, best Iā€™ve ever read, whose writer must write his or her own novel! Forty years early Elfriede is living in Switzerland, in a former mountain top monastery turned sanatorium, recovering from what we know is post-partum depression. During the early 1900ā€™s however, her doctors had no idea this ailment existed, so Elfriede was there for two years when we meet her. There she meets a ginger-haired Englishman recovering from pneumonia and from the moment they first speak they know, somehow, they will remain in each otherā€™s lives as the decades move on. Discuss the ways Lulu and Elfriedeā€™s stories intertwine. What characteristics do these two women share, even though theyā€™re separated by a generation and different cultures? I want to preface this by saying: I had read an incomplete draft of Golden Hour when it was still on wattpad and have followed the author on social media for a few years now, so i walked in fully expecting to love it. And I wasn't wrong. Williams is an incredible storyteller and I was so delighted to discover what an excellent historical fiction novelist she is as I fell under her spell. There are two fascinating narratives at play. One beginning in 1900 tells the story of Elfriede von Kleist, a young wife and mother who has been sent to a mental clinic in Switzerland because of severe postpartum depression.Ā The other storyline is set in 1941 tells of Lulu Randolph Thorpe, a journalist for an American magazine sent to the Bahamas to gather as much gossip as she can on Wallis Simpson and the Duke of Windsor (avoiding all talks of politics in her column, that is).

From the first word, I could feel all the emotion and soul Katie has put into this book and it is something I am so honoured to have read. The way Sheyanne grew so much as a character and know what she needed to get to her end goal to heal from the trauma and pain she was dealing withā€¦ I just admired her so much. I am actually her #1 fan and protector. What it's about: I recommend reading the synopsis because it is too hard for me to explain this book in just a few sentences! Sheyanne could be so discombobulating at times but if anything Iā€™m just like her and could relate to her internal struggles. She didnā€™t always deal with things the right way but she eventually found her footing at her own terms and was able to better herself. Her development was amazing šŸ„¹šŸ„¹ Lerner EB, Moscati RM. This is her second book and just as amazing as her first, which I had zero doubt about. I will admit that The Golden Hour wasn't exactly what I was looking for at this time, so that may have influenced my rating a bit. I am just coming off a bunch of very speedy reads and wasn't entirely in the mood for a long book. However, I didn't want that to take away from my whole experience which is why it's still getting a 4 from me. It really is a beautiful, heartbreaking story even if I wasn't really able to connect to any of the characters.

Hannahā€™s new novel is an homage to the extraordinary courage and endurance of Frenchwomen during World War II. In any case, The Golden Hour is very good, and does an excellent job of portraying the aftermath of a school shooting without actually delving too deep into the traumatic event itself. A very solid read for kids who might be struggling and don't want to relive the news. The earlier story line was not one that would have kept me reading. But the Bahamas "feel" and the Lulu (she was a 1960 plus "eyes" put into an earlier "reality") character with her completely double standard morality- made me laugh. I know she was not supposed to be funny. But she was to me considering her own actions. Listen to educational audio programs as you drive around. Leave the radio off. Continually feed your mind with high quality mental nutrition that uplifts and inspires you to do your best. This is a great way to improve your personal development throughout your entire life.Benedict Thrope disappears on the night of the murder. Lulu embarks to London to find his family to seek the truth, Why did Charlotte decide to leave Elfriede and take the girls with her? Would you have done the same? How did that decision change the course of everyoneā€™s lives? Anyways, this was another masterpiece written by Katie! Her characters and writing are always so beautiful, and this book was no different šŸ¤§Ā Iā€™m a better person for reading this book, and Iā€™m so so thankful for it. The only thing Iā€™m mad about is that I donā€™t have my own Liam šŸ„²
