About this deal

Henry Hoovers are popular with professional cleaners because of their large capacities, reliable performance and versatility across different floor types. Millions of Henry Hoovers are used by professional cleaners across the UK. Don't forget additional dustbags for your bagged vacuum cleaner so you can easily replace a full bag. The Henry Vacuum Cleaner brings professional and versatile cleaning to all situations. With over 10 million Henrys made, and most still in use today, he really is the vacuum you can trust. Henry's great features make cleaning easy, including his super long-reach, trouble free rewind 10 metre cable, huge capacity and on-board tool storage. Carpets, hard-floors, cars, stairs, DIY... nothing beats a Henry for versatility. So much more than just a smiley face. In addition Henry comes complete with an adaptor which can be used to attach any of the cleaning tools to the end of the hose. This is ideal for when cleaning in a confined space such as a car.

As well as Henry himself and the combi floor tool mentioned above, there are a range of attachments that come in the Henry Hoover box. There are also a range of small cleaning tools, including: Henry Hoovers are so popular because of their reliability and affordability. Manufacturer Numatic has been making Henry’s since 1981, and to this day you know with a Henry you’ll get reliable performance and a very capable vacuum cleaner. Henry is also an affordable vacuum cleaner, often priced at cheaper than most comparable vacuums on the market.

Confused about the vast selection of Henry vacuum cleaners? Our guide to the Henry hoover range will help clear that up. How we tested the Henry HVR 160-11 vacuum cleaner A common question that Numatic gets is can Henry Hoover be used without a bag? Numatic advise not to use the Henry Hoover without bags. Over time if you do use the Henry without bags, you risk damaging the motor which could lead to reduced performance. Both the HVR160 and HVR200 models have a similar weight, though it isn’t exactly the same. With a larger capacity comes with a little extra weight, so the Henry 200-11 weighs in at 8.1 kg, whereas the Henry 160 is a bit lighter at 7.5 kg. Numerous changes have been made by Numatic to increase Henry’s efficiency, meaning despite the reduced wattage the Henry Hoover power is just as powerful – if not more powerful – than previous versions. Henry also now makes a lot less noise with the low wattage motor much quieter than standard vacuums, and as an added bonus the latest Henry models will also use around half the electricity compared to older versions. Meet the Henry HVR160 Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner -featuring everythingyou need to keep your floors clean, it isideal for smaller households and small storage spaces.

While this setup works well enough, experience has taught me that the various sections of the pole can become stiff and difficult to pull apart over time. To avoid this, I recommend pulling them apart at the end of each clean, and loosely rejoining them for storage.

The power cable is a generous 10 metres in length and the genius rotary dial at the top of Henry makes retrieving the cord a doddle – which is just the sort of convenience we appreciate after undertaking a good vacuuming session. The Henry HVR 160-11 features an integrated grab handle and a clever wind-up reel to retreive the machine's 10-metre power cable. Spares are readily available and it’s possible to buy all manner of tool kits to either replenish or kit out Henry for more specific cleaning duties. How quiet is the Henry HVR 160-11? Those dealing with pet hair regularly will likely appreciate the pet-specific and odour reducing features of the Henry Pet. The HVR 160-11 has a short wheelbase and four free rolling wheels, which makes it a fairly agile machine to move around when guided by its hose. That short wheelbase makes it possible to balance the Henry on certain deeper stairs but this is a sketchy activity that we’d advise against. Four wheels and a short wheelbase mean the Henry is easily led around the home. - Oli Woodman / Our Media

The Henry HVR 160-11 is relatively quiet in its operation. Of course you’ll realise that the Hoover is in use but its motor’s drone doesn’t drown out all ambient noise, something that noise sensitive people and pets will be thankful for. What tools and equipment are supplied with the Henry HVR 160-11? The Henry HVR 1601-11 tool kit is comprehensive and features tools that make more specific cleaning jobs far easier. - Oli Woodman / Our Media There is a notable difference when comparing Henry 160 vs 200 in terms of bag capacity. The HVR200 model provides a huge nine litre capacity in comparison to the six litres you get with the HVR160. Even at 6 litres the Henry 160 offers more than five times the capacity of many bagless vacuums, but at 9 litres the Henry 200 model is in a different league. Either way, both the HVR160 and HVR200 offer large capacities, but if you want as much capacity as possible then the HVR200 model should appeal. The benefit of a larger capacity means emptying less often and using less bags, but as above both of these models offer a large capacity. Both the Henry HVR 160 and HVR 200 models have seen a large reduction in motor power when compared to previous versions of Henry. In September 2014 the EU imposed a limit on vacuum cleaners limiting the wattage to 1600W, and by 2017 that limit went down even further to 900W. The previous Henry Hoover wattage at 1200W was above the new limit set in 2017, so Numatic made big changes and reduced the Henry 160 model to 620W, nearly halving Henry’s previous wattage. The Henry 200 model at 580W has gone one step further, but this shouldn’t be seen as a negative.Thankfully Henry’s integrated grab handle means temporarily lifting the machine isn’t too bad for those in good physical shape but it’s fair to say that vacuuming staircases is not Henry’s forte. There have been a number of iterations to Henry over the last decade in terms of motor power, meaning the Henry Hoover suction power and wattage is different depending on which model you have at your disposal. Part of the reason for this power is that Henry doesn’t have any motorised tools for agitating dirt. Instead, it relies on good old-fashioned suction power to pull dirt out of carpets and off hard floors.

This model of Numatic Henry comes with the same wand that features on older models; it’s a series of three metal poles that connect together. The curved section has an air vent on it, too, which is used to decrease suction power – the vacuum cleaner has just an on/off switch. If there’s one thing you expect from a Henry, it’s the cute face painted on the front of the iconic red body. It was a cute touch when Henry first launched, and it remains an enduring symbol that gives the vacuum cleaner a personality and life. It’s easy to love this vacuum cleaner. In certain situations the slightly limited articulation of the tool can mean you may need to move yourself a little more than with an upright cleaner but in general it’s a capable bit of equipment that has been built to last. Dialling down the suction can sometimes be necessary and providing you’re using the stainless tubes it’s something that is easy to do thanks to a bypass valve that drops up to 30% of suction power. A filtered release valve on the stainless steel wand reduces suction power by up to 30%. - Oli Woodman / Our Media

If your home does feature vast expanses of carpet then the ergonomics of a canister machine such as this might prove inferior to that of an upright but the versatility that Henry offers makes it far better for a range of tasks. Take car cleaning, which the Henry makes light work of thanks to its lengthy hose, strong suction and supplied crevice tool.
