Information from the official art book for Hogwarts Legacy has reportedly been shared early, revealing new information about the game. The book will be authored by Jody Revenson, who is the main author of the Wizarding World tie-in books, such as “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore Movie Magic” and “Harry Potter Paper Craft”, among others. The ISBN for this new book is 9781647226190 and the current publication date is September 6th, 2022. Developed by Avalanche Software (Disney Infinity), Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world action RPG set in the world first introduced in the Harry Potter books. Insight Editions will publish “The Art and Making of Hogwarts Legacy”, a companion book to the upcoming open-world action RPG based in the Wizarding World. As spotted by The Rowling Library, the book is authored by Jody Revenson, who has previously written “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore Movie Magic” and “Harry Potter Paper Craft”.

The main narrative will follow a different progression depending on the House that the player is assigned to. However, all paths eventually converge for the same finale. Due to be published by Warner Bros. under its Portkey Games label, Hogwarts Legacy was originally scheduled to be released in 2021 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC.

To clarify, the reason for this change (if it is real) is completely unknown and may or may not be related to the release date for the videogame. One reason could be that the original date of September was plain wrong, another one was that the September date was just a placeholder that was not supposed to become public (but it did).Additionally, the art book leak contains images of Hogwarts and Hogsmeade decorated for Christmas. While we already knew the game would include changes in the season, this is — as far as we can recall — the first we’ve seen of holidays in-game. It would be incredible if Hogwarts was decorated for multiple holidays, although just because something in the art book doesn’t mean it ended up in the game; it’s important to remember that a lot of concept art remains in the concept phase. Still, it’s certainly possible, and who knows — perhaps there will even be some holiday related side-quests that appear only at during seasons. The game allows players to create their own character and attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where they can learn spells, explore the castle and its grounds, and engage in battles against Dark Creatures.

If this updated art book release date and the information found on the game’s various editions prove to be accurate, then we could possibly see the final release date announced in the not-too-distant future. That ‘Holiday’ release window is fast approaching, after all. Following several delays, Hogwarts Legacy will be released for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on February 10, 2023. It will then hit PS4 and Xbox One on April 4, and Nintendo Switch on July 25. In addition to dungeons and open-world exploration, players will encounter puzzles known as Merlin's Puzzles. Apparently, there are about 100 of them, and each makes full use of the spell-casting abilities of the protagonist. That said, even if the release date for the art book does prove to be December 6, it’s still not necessarily any guarantee of the actual game’s final release date. We'll have to wait for an official announcement from Warner Bros to be sure of that.
