About this deal

Access to your meter readings and more detailed consumption data from your Smart Meter was not a priority for the Smart Metering Programme, so it has taken a few years for services to become available. The concept from the beginning was for third parties to provide Consumer Access Devices (CAD) to allow customers to retrieve their own data. From what I’ve read, Chameleon pitches the ivie Bud has having multiple purposes. Firstly, as a replacement SMETS2 IHD for anyone who doesn’t currently have one and can’t get hold of one, as well as for anyone who wants to get real-time usage data in a smartphone app, which is reported as an upcoming feature integration. As it’s not out yet, I can’t currently play with that functionality though. Other than that, it’s the usual purposes you’d get from any IHD. UK Fuel Mix disclosure information published by Government Department DESNZ (PDF, 173 KB), recognises electricity from wind, solar and nuclear fuel produces zero carbon dioxide emissions at the point of generation.

Enerj’s Infrared Electric panel heater measures 59.5 x 119.5 cm and can be mounted on a wall or ceiling or even kept free-standing. It’s totally noise free and the company states it’s up to 70% less costyl than traditional heating systems. Draught excluder Still, to give Chameleon some credit, the menus are well designed and the display is a breeze to use - once you get it working - so it’s not all bad. I just wish I could say more…

I guess I'll just put a current clamp to get my realtime measurements, and forget about this UK smart meter non-sense. Or wait that Hildebrand manages to get their product and supply working hopefully one day. Loop Energy is the name of an App provided free of charge by Trust Power Limited for smart phones that allows you to monitor your electricity and gas energy consumption.

It would only be logical though if " the big selling point of smart meters to consumers is that with the IHD, they can see their usage, real times costs etc and hopefully reduce their usage" was the real reason behind the smart meter rollout, but of course it isn't. Octopus Energy provides a REST API for customers and partner organisations to interact with their platform. Amongst other things, it provides functionality for: With the need for action on energy consumption and decarbonisation more important than ever, the hope is that services like SmartThings Energy can help galvanise consumer interest in smart meters by empowering users to take action based on their energy usage data more easily. Chameleon’s technology enables smart meter data to be securely and privately populated in the SmartThings app. Making this data easily accessible to consumers will allow them to make meaningful changes surrounding energy in the home and ultimately may contribute to a lower carbon footprint. Chameleon Technology furthers its commitment to empowering individuals to make smarter energy choices I could not activate it on https://ivie.co.uk/activate. The House number+postcode fails for me (3 flats/meters in the house maybe), and they won’t support the MPAN method. Going through Smarthing android app, creating the chameleon account with the MPAN, and associating the Ivie bud made the association possible. Sure thing! It’s definitely a service we can provide here. 🙂 We’ve got lots of smart meter model guides listed here. If you can’t find a guide that matches your meter type, please post photos of your current meters, Comms Hub and (if you have one) IHD. We’ll be able to use these photos to figure out what you’ve got and can then advise you which options are likely to work. We don’t have a magic crystal ball or x-ray vision though sadly, so there’s no other way for us to identify your meters without photos or a description of the meters.

A radiator thermostat is essential to tailor how hot your radiators heat up to, but a smart thermostat is the latest must-have. This innovative device enables you to control multiple radiators, and zones, all of which can be managed via an app. It also details the energy output and temperature, so you can be mindful of how hot your house is - and whether you really need the heating on.

Suppliers usually collect data from each meter overnight so that they can get a midnight reading. This means that if you access data through a supplier's remote system you will have to wait until the next day to see any data. Many devices and appliances are marketed as having “smart” or “energy saving” features," said Lucy. "So when comparing models, it’s important to pay attention to the product description and energy label if available.

Live data, coming soon, will drive benefits of SmartThings Energy even further

Bright is the name of an App provided free of charge by Hildebrand Technology Limited which allows you to monitor your electricity or gas energy consumption. SmartThings Energy will also highlight if cheaper tariffs are available based on actual household energy usage. By partnering with Uswitch; the UK’s leading price comparison service, to provide end-to-end energy management, SmartThings Energy will give people greater control when it comes to domestic energy use. With increasing prices and the energy price cap shielding customers from even higher bills, active energy management in the home has never been more important. SmartThings Energy is driving change in the energy space The comms hub uses the Wide Area Network (WAN) to talk to the company responsible for collecting the data and passing it on to other businesses such as suppliers; for the latest SMETS 2 meters this company will be the DCC (Data Communications Company) which the government has set up especially for this role. Four hours in, I finally get to play with the device properly, but unfortunately this was short lived and I’ll explain why further down. The short version is that from my hour or two of using the ivie Bud, it was ultimately no different to the IHD6 other than having a built-in temperature sensor and no battery. If you already know how the IHD6 works, then you know how the ivie Bud works. If the big selling point of smart meters to consumers is that with the IHD, they can see their usage, real times costs etc and hopefully reduce their usage ... wouldn't it be logical in the event of a failure to replace the IHD free of charge?
