While there are no protruding or awkward edges, the S12 Pro’s nozzles are pretty short. Thus, those with bigger ears may encounter the shell pressing on the concha, leading to slight discomfort, especially when it comes to longer listening sessions. YMMV. Internals Meanwhile on instruments, it gives a more crisp and brighter tone on acoustic guitars and a metallic and vibrant sound on violins. Percussion like toms and snare drums have deep, penetrating and resonant sounds on them while pianos seem to have a more vivid and brighter tone. On brasses, trumpets have shrill and penetrating sound while trombones have eruptive and intense sound, and then on horns have a coarse to bright sound depending on note register. Woodwinds like flutes have a brilliant and shrill sound while saxophones have that lively and reedy timbre on them. Coherency is excellent given its planar magnetic performance that delivers a blazing fast transient speed and good handling on decay without any distortion or might sound "out of phase". Equally strong is the mid range which is very well tuned with great coherency and a touch of a tasty upper-mids emphasis that adds some flavor without leading into sibilance and excessive projection.

LETSHUOER S12 Planar IEM - Reviews - Head-Fi.org

Great performance across the board. I was able to discern every single source with ease even through the busiest parts of some songs. Staging is also quite wide allowing for a more spacious feeling and a more immersive experience.Treble heads will rejoice because they'd be delighted to know that the LETSHUOER S12 Pro provides an ample amount of air and energy in the treble range. It is not excessively bright or harsh, striking a balance that allows for detailed and crisp sound reproduction.

The Talos are no slouch in timbre, but of the planar challengers, the Zetian Wu have the best timbral accuracy of the lot.Like most of their planar brethren, the S12 Pro do have a somewhat unnatural timbre for acoustic instruments (especially when compared to single DD transducers). This may be a consequence of the planar drivers’ very fast transients and rapid decay. Note weight is on the thinner side. Comparisons The S12’s better mid-bass composure may trigger a chain effect in that the midrange is not masked and therefore clearer. Its transition from bass to lower midrange is much smoother compared the abrupt change in the Timeless…which results in a much more cohesive, balanced sound…which is the dealmaker/breaker for me. The Stellaris are much harder to drive. Tonality aside, the Stellaris’ sub-optimal fit may be a deal-breaker. The heavy shells and lengthy nozzles can cause comfort and fit issues for users.

DUNU has obtained internationally-recognized acoustic research achievements and patents. DUNU was one of the pioneers in developing a full beryllium dome single DD IEM in the LUNA, which are still regarded as one of the top-of-the-line single DD sets that can match multi-BA/hybrid IEMs in resolution. Most other purported beryllium DD IEMs are plated or coated only. The lower midrange is slightly depressed. After that, there’s a slight boost in the upper midrange, but thankfully, this area is forward without being shouty. There are voices that speculate that both models have the same planar magnetic driver. After all, both models graph identically up to 2 kHz, and the differences above are just minor variations, possibly caused by the different housings. And some of the sonically perceived differences can be the product of the interactions between housings and our conchas. I don’t hear anything really glaring as a definitive con, except on rare occasions there is the faintest bit of planar timbre peeking through. This is also induced by my brain concentrating and listening for it. That being said I think females have a nicely positioned and energetic sound which is capped by a smooth delivery.YMMV, as treble perception is not uniform; it is dependent on hearing health/ age, volume played at ( Fletcher Munson curve), ear anatomy ( pinna gain), sources, and ear tips. In terms of gaming, the dynamic range of this IEM is good, creating an illusion of a good soundstage. However, I still don't sense the depth I seek. In conclusion, the immersive experience it provides is average. There is plenty of harmonic wealth and realism, the timbre is natural and colorful with great chromatic variety, you can hear the uniqueness of every singer's voice and single instrument. The S12P are downright striking in appearance. A very simple yet also beautifully designed earphone all the way around. Colored in a matte finish is this navy blue colorway with hints of purple hues which appears bold, distinguished and regal. Accenting the gorgeous paint job is a protruding small rectangle housing where the female 2-pin connector is located with a beveled strip of shiny silver outlining it, which adds such a distinct contrast to the confident looking shells. I have the hardest time deciding if there is bluer than purple, or more purple than blue?

The Zetian Wu are technically inferior, with fuzzier imaging, less micro-details, way-blunted edge definition, and worse instrument separation and micro-details. The Zetian Wu have a more marked mid-bass bleed with a less textured and slower bass. In terms of quality, bass texturing is pillowy and sometimes can sound undefined, but bass speed is lightning fast and can cope with complex bass movements. There’s just a hint of mid-bass bleed, but thankfully the bass does not encroach much into the midrange. Midrange Still, to get the absolute best of this planar driven earphone I do think it sounds the best, the most open, the most dynamic and at home, when using something with more power. Needless to say, that both of my daps (M6 Ultra & Dx240) equally made the most of the S12P. Both adding their own flavor to the sound. The Quad AK4493SEQ chips in the M6 Ultra and the ES9038 Pro chip within the DX240 both have fantastic synergism and show the adaptability of the S12 Pro. I suppose the same result would be had with both the original S12 as well as the Zeos tuned Z12. Overall, I have nothing but praise for the bass of the S12 Pro. However, some may find the impact of the bass a bit overwhelming, and that's where the foam eartips could come in handy. Living up to their dual namesake of the Cretan guardian machine and sun deity Helios, activating the hybrid switch elevates the Talos head-and-shoulders above the other planars in technicalities (though at the expense of added sibilance and fatigue).

I was under the impression that the S12 Pro will be quite bright and harsh, and was honestly worried about how my ears will interpret its sound seeing as I’m quite sensitive to mid treble, but it never sounded harsh(unless you go ham with the volume) during my experience. The S12 Pro also carries the moniker “6th anniversary edition”, and for those who somehow don’t know, it is a Planar driven iem which followed the original * S12* as well as the ‘Zeos tuned’ Z12. All of which have the same build, same shell. However from what I have gathered, some of the internals have been upgraded (more on that later). There has also been some minimal tweaks to the tuning and some paint and accessory changes.
