In Chapter 66, Makima is able to wound the Darkness Devil with ease by just pointing a finger at it. It is also stated that she is on the side of humanity, claiming that she attempts to save humanity from the devils that were plaguing the world. Despite some of her ruthless behavior, she does not hesitate to call out several yakuza about justifying themselves being a necessary evil as she needed their cooperation to further her own plans seemingly saving humanity. In addition, Makima also shows a bit of a glimpse of the humanity in her when she cried during her time with Denji watching the third film about a man seemingly reconciling with his lost friend.

In the original Devilman manga, Sirene had two demons who assisted her called Ghelmer and Agwel who had water and intangibility powers respectively. Two of Makima's subordinates, Beam and Princi, are both Devils with intangibility powers and Beam is a Shark Fiend and sharks are aquatic animals with his intangibility being his own way of representing sharks swimming. Makima's Japanese Devil Name, Shihai (支配), uses the same kanji as the Japanese translation for the first of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse in Christian mythology. Appearance
During Chapter 93, when Denji asks Makima if there will be bad movies in her ideal utopian world, she then answers that she will eradicate all bad movies in her world as she believes the world would be better if bad movies ceased to exist which causes Denji to have no hesitations to kill her. This references her and Denji's date in the movie theater around Chapter 39 when they talk about good and bad movies which also can be interpreted as a philosophical talk about how life works as without anything bad that balanced the good, life itself would become a lot more boring and it would destroy anything that makes human special. It can also be interpreted as Denji calling out Makima using her so-called well-intentioned goals just to fulfill her selfish desires. The Chainsaw Devil is perhaps the only individual Makima has ever shown genuine interest or affection towards. Furthermore, Pochita is one of the only people who she does not believe to be beneath her due to his legendary status and power. Her association with pests could be reflective of how the Conquest Horseman is often interpreted as the Horseman of Pestilence. The reason for the Conquest Horseman being changed to Pestilence in some interpretations is because scholars found Conquest to be too similar to War. Pestilence was an easy change because at the time, bows and arrows were laced with poisons and toxins and the Conquest Horseman held a bow and arrow. Even though Makima's hands are in a more gun-like position, her "Bang!" ability can also be comparable to shots from an arrow.
