About this deal

Keep in mind that there are also a host of additional peripherals that you can link to the MiniRig 3 from the same brand. With so many Bluetooth speakers now on the market, it can be hard to choose one. Many are laden with features, and others can be had at super low prices. The most important thing to me is sound, and for the life of me, I can’t think of anything this size that sounds even close to being this good. Really to get something better sounding, you are looking at getting the Minirig 3. For instance, it’s nice to know that you can link multiple speakers to the same system and create a stereo surround sound effect. Although there are slightly more attractive great speakers out there, you’ll struggle to find anything as simultaneously strong and compact as the MiniRig 3. Treble is surprisingly smooth, and never does it get overly hot. There is still a lot of detail in there that makes it a very versatile speaker capable of playing nice with all sorts of genres. The mid-range again has a lot of clarity, is very smooth, and very detailed. Despite it being a mono speaker, there is no hint of compression, and instruments and vocals have a good amount of spacing.

Minirig - Portable Bluetooth Speakers Bristol UK

Various additions and changes make this speaker more impressive than ever, including a new custom-built 70mm driver with wonderfully deep bass, and a fantastic 100-hour battery life. The idea is that, because the Minirig relies on the volume control of your device to control the output volume of the speaker, having two inputs that support a large range of output volumes ensures it offers the best quality, whatever device you use. Compared to similarly-priced products, such as the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom, it isn’t quite as insightful across the board. We’d like more texture to each instrument, so this speaker can really show off the shimmer of cymbals or the throbs of bass guitars. As a speaker with a single driver, the MiniRig 3 goes above and beyond to deliver an unforgettable stereo sound experience. On a normal volume, you can expect a good sound base response down to around 80hz, thanks to the powerful main drivers. There’s dynamic equalization included within these devices to ensure that the sound remains as crisp as possible. There’s also an app for Android and iPhone that enables you to play and pause your media, pair up Minirigs, switch between stereo and mono modes and even turn them off remotely. It’s a great little addition to the whole setup. One slight downside is that the more you ramp up the volume, the more likely it is that you’ll lose out on things like bass clarity. Usually, when you see something as small as this compact device, it’s easy to assume that you’re going to miss out on functionality, sound stage, or volume.

Minirig 3 - Portable Bluetooth Speaker - Made in the UK

Yes, the Wonderboom is bigger than the Minirig Mini - it's about twice the size, in fact - but it is still very small in its own right and is certainly very portable. In short, we think that someone eyeing-up the Minirig Mini could and should also consider the Wonderboom, and the latter finds a sweeter spot between size and sound quality. What makes the Mini difficult to recommend, however, is that some (admittedly larger but still very portable) rivals have both significantly better audio quality and greater versatility. Available for both Android and Apple devices, the app gives you a 5-band equalizer that you can experiment with. There’s also more control over your music through the app. Not only do you get a sensational 100-hour battery life from this product, but you can also expect a range of bonus features, including a 5-band equalizer, sensational syncing and linking functions, and 40 watts of power. This is handy if you’re going to be working in a booth with limited space. Build Quality and Design Credit: MinirigsWith some of these competitors coming in at an equivalent or even lower price, it means that, in terms of performance for pound, we are left wanting more for a little less. You can access up to 100 hours of battery from this device, although it’s worth mentioning that the way you use your speaker will have an impact on the sound signature. In this MiniRig 3 portable review, we’re looking at one of the most compact Bluetooth speakers that the brand has to offer. The sound on a single Minirig speaker was matched only by the Beoplay A1 in my side-by-side testing. It managed to get louder and maintain a high level of detail before any JBL, Gear4, or Taotronics units started to distort. Even when pushed way past the comfortable listening point, the sound doesn't degrade as sharply as any of those units. The clarity and detail retrieved at normal levels are remarkable for something so small.
