Although this is a MicroBook course and I encourage to you to write and publish your MicroBook — there’s no reason why it can’t be the forerunner of a longer book. Mitchell and his friends collapse into laughter, and Lucy sits there, stunned, her eyes widening as she stares at Mr. Davies. Like no teacher has ever talked to her like that in her life. when they have the Moxie party in the hall and it's just girls being girls together with no boys in sight. I want to hang out with a lot of girls and have no boys be there. That has literally never happened to me in my life However, I liked that Emma’s almost rape went from being recent and an almost encounter, to historical and actual rape. I also liked that they made Mitchell her ex. There needs to be more media shining a light on how rape is still possible while in a relationship. My only complaint was that we didn’t get enough commentary on that! It ended up feeling more powerful, and helped the ending feel more conclusive than in the book. Viv’s relationships

I really liked Vivians Meemaw and Grandpa, I know they were set in there ways, but it was honestly so relatable to my nana and grandad, it was just so cute! The only sound is the squeak of our feet on the floor. But if you listen hard enough, you can hear our heartbeat. Head cheerleader Emma comes forward as the rape survivor, stating that Mitchell, her ex-boyfriend, was her rapist. It happened the previous year when they were dating, and they called her "Most Bangable", which left her mortified. All the students are horrified and lend their support. Principal Shelly overhears and plans to punish Mitchell at last. I also sort of prefer the relationship between Viv and Seth in the movie. I’m not sure why they made them old friends instead of Seth being a newcomer to town, but I feel some of the frustrations for them both are clearer in the movie.

Did we miss something on diversity?

It’s a small-group adventure, which is why the price is a little higher than other book writing courses out there. I’m not interested in scaling it up to get as many people as possible through the doors. So you’re guaranteed a lot of personal attention from me, twice a week, for 4 weeks. You can ask as many questions as you like, and I’ll save them up for the live calls or during the Voxer office hours.

This book was totally amazing! I was in tears near the end with all of the girls standing up together. They were there for each other, girls from all walks of life to stand up against those that try to make them something they are not, for trying to push them into corners to go along with things that shouldn't be. This book is all powerful in its own way. There are some new things that I love – the movie feels updated, for example, and it’s also more diverse. The first point is an interesting one, as the book came out in June 2017, but would have likely been written over the couple of years preceding that. So 3-5 years, it doesn’t sound that long. But I did honestly find it noticeable. The movie keeps a lot of things that are needed but may not really be as prevalent now – like the late-night copy shop, but we also get more social media and a generally more modern feel. I can’t quite describe it. Yes it will! I’ll show you how to release your book in physical and/or ebook format. You can create multiple formats. Vivian befriends Lucy, as well as a group of other girls who have been put down, but her best friend Claudia is reluctant to get behind the movement and it causes a rift between them. Vivian also begins a relationship with Seth, who knows she started "Moxie" and supports her.

Moxie (novel) - Wikipedia

Ser mujer y adolescente hoy en día es muy difícil, en muchos aspectos. Y gracias a este libro pude diferenciarlos y llenarme de muchos más argumentos al respecto. The critique I have is that even though I know it was set in a small town and there may not be much diversity in the population to begin with, there were some POC side characters that had very obvious "side character" roles, and I am pretty sure the protag is an allo cis het Caucasian girl. I would have loved for this story to center on a girl who was not entirely of the dominant discourse, and some more inclusion, particularly mention of disability, neurodiversity, gender identity, and sexuality.Canfield, David (January 6, 2021). "EW's 2021 movie preview: 89 films we can't wait to see". Entertainment Weekly . Retrieved January 6, 2021. I think that school's should have discussions on this book in classrooms, as well as Vagina: A Re-education, I think that would make for an interesting, but yet an important lesson. I've heard that this is in the YA section, but quite honestly, I think everyone should read it. They can make a massive difference to a reader’s life without overwhelming them with information, fluff, and padding — or without it becoming an extended sales letter (we’ve all read books that could’ve been a blog post, right?) I’ll never run this as a large-group course — I want to keep it small and mighty, with a maximum of 20 writers (and just 5 VIP spaces each round).

I went in blindly here. I knew it was a book based on feminism, and girls standing up to sexist pigs, but I enjoyed this more than I'd hoped. Yes you can! I’ve tried to make the live call and office hours times as accessible as possible. They’re in the afternoon in the UK and Europe, and morning in the US. whispering* Because you grew up thinking you were worth the world and were furious when you found out that you weren't even worth a care? Now, there were a few things that I didn't absolutely love about this (hence not a full 5 stars). For one, the story dragged a bit toward the middle and I found myself having to push to get over it. Also, the characters were not my absolute favs. I think if this book was a bit longer I could have connected better with the characters much more. But, as it was, they all were sorta eh for me. But that's mostly just a me thing! Being a feminist doesn’t mean hating the male population. Actually, a lot of them are awesome, amazing, and utterly cool! You don’t have to dislike the good ones just because they don’t understand the complete struggle. Overall I recommend this to anyone and everyone, it's books like this that NEED to be in schools. It makes it easier to talk about issues that people can face that are often just brushed off. I loved this so much, and I honestly think this book will stay with me for a long time! My favorite parts were the shoutout to Roxane Gay (woohoo!), the depiction of the small town, and the portrayal of the different ways the adult men at the school were particularly shitty and how the power dynamic played into it. I also loved how Viv's relationship with her mom wasn't necessarily perfect, and that some things were out of her control, and how that affected her. Lucy is also a badass, and I'd love to have been a Lucy when I was in high school.
