There is nothing quite like the big satisfying sigh you make when you come to the end of wonderfully romantic books like One Day in December. I loved this book so much more then I thought I would. It is now one of my favorite Christmas stories, if not even my favorite, and I would recommend it to everyone who believes (or want to believe) in love at first sight, likes to read about friendships and life twists and turns. If you get the chance to read “One Day in December” please take it! This heartwarming read will be on my best of list for 2018 and I sincerely hope it will be on yours too!

Today, films are shot at a frantic pace – several hundred films of various genres are released per year. Some of them represent a fictional story, others tell about real events of the past, and some are screen versions of books. Paper books make it possible to take one’s eyes off the monitor or TV screen and devote some time to reading. The opinions about what is best, a book or a movie, are distinctive, and one can give a lot of arguments in defense of one way or another way of knowing the world and self-development. One of the key benefits of producing the “One Day in December” movie is that modern fast life does not leave time for some people to read. If the plot of the book needs to be found out, and there is its adaptation, it is easier to spend 1.5-2 hours of time viewing the film. A feature film is not only the opportunity to relax but also receive deep emotions and the ground for further reflections. Resources NeededBasically it is an episode of Jeremy Kyle waiting to happen…except all the characters appear to have all their teeth (at least they did in my head) and don’t seem to want to air their dirty laundry on television. As I often do for my last suggestion, I am guiding you to a classic that will indulge your romantic side and open your mind to the majesty of the English language. I give you one of the most-read novels of all time (probably!) – Pride and Prejudice. basically this was a Meh read for me. it was very long, and very slow, and there was a lot of drama in a kind of suburban-gossip there's-nothing-else-to-talk-about way that did not at all translate to an interesting-book way.

Did you have any doubts there would be a happy ending? Did you like the ending? What’s next for those two love birds? In this book we meet Caro, who's mum lay dying as she discovers just where her absent father disappeared to and why... You tread lightly through life, but you leave deep footprints that are hard for other people to fill. I definitely expect this book to become a film sometime in the future. As I read, I was constantly casting the characters with movie stars, which is not my normal modus operandi. If Sam Claflin and Emilia Clark are looking for a screen reunion after Me Before You, this is it. Who did you picture playing the roles? Isla Fisher for Sarah? Okay, I’ll stop. Laurie is pretty sure love at first sight doesn't exist anywhere but the movies. But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there's a moment of pure magic... and then her bus drives away. All that being said I found the book to be well thought out and cleverly crafted. It was not my favourite of Shari Low's books but I didn't hate it either, especially as I did finally become engaged in the whole story and was even feeling rather emotional at one point.

Who was St Valentine anyway and what made him such an expert on romance? I’m willing to bet his full name is St Smugbastard-three’s-crowd Valentine, and he probably lives on a candle-lit island where everything comes in pairs, even bouts of thrush. A must-read. In Josie Silver’s charming rom-com, Laurie experiences love at first sight through her bus window… then the car pulls away… What follows is a decade of heartache, betrayal, and destiny.” Lila is oblivious to Cammy’s intentions. She’s more interested in snaring her married lover, cardiac surgeon Ken, who she’s been having a passionate affair with for years, unbeknownst to his wife. Lila’s determined that today’s the day Ken will tell his wife he’s leaving her – and if not, Lila’s going to do it for him. Menswear shop owner Cameron, known to his friends as Cammy, is planning to propose to his girlfriend, Lila. She’s the first woman he’s fallen for since he lost the love of his life to another man. Helped by pals, Josie and Val (hilarious characters, by the way), he’s chosen the perfect ring, the perfect suit, the perfect restaurant. Now he just needs everything to go to plan. The plan is going well, Jamie gets the reputation upgrade needed for his advancement at the firm and Laurie gets to flaunt her hot new boyfriend in front of Dan and his new girlfriend – but the lines between fake and fate soon become blurred for them both.ONE DAY IN DECEMBER by Shari Low is a superb story of love, secrets, friendship, and heartbreak, and needs to be on everyone's reading list this year. We follow our characters during a decade and we see what they went through during that period of time. Thank you to Melanie Price of Aria Fiction, to NetGalley, and Shari Low for providing me an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review!

If Love Actually met Sliding Doors and became a novel influenced by Jojo Myers, you’d have One Day in December. There’s just something about Christmas and the UK that’s a recipe for modern rom-coms that will have you running for the mistletoe.” Meanwhile Bernadette finally finds the courage to leave her loveless and emotionally abusive husband to enjoy the finer things in life she wants to for a change... I can’t tell you how much I hope you’re related to this lot because I need this kind of drama in my life. I love them already. It’s like having your own Lifetime mini-series. One Day in December originally caught my eye because of its intriguing premise. The idea that two people would see each other through a bus window and know instantly that it was love at first sight is soo romantic. It totally appealed to the sentimental mush in me. Besides, I'm always up for squeezing in a seasonally appropriate read this time of the year. The main characters seem to be quite similar, both internally and externally, to the characters of the film “Love, Rosie”. For example, the description of friendship between Lori and Sarah is a great example of female friendship. The story also focuses on the eternal topic of love at first sight, and it becomes clear that it is everyone’s personal business. The scene with the leaving bus that is the beginning of the “One Day in December” perfectly emphasizes the potential of this story to become a successful movie. The bus leaves the stop, and the stranger, whom Laurie is hopelessly in love with, stands on the sidewalk and looks after him. Confusion in the eyes, internal hope, and the complexity of a human soul can be expressed in looking at him until he disappears from sight. The whole book is full of similar scenes that make readers stop and think about the essence of love and relationships between people. This was a group read with my Book Besties... Jennifer was approached by Goodreads and the publisher with this book and just as a true friend does she included all of us! How appropriate for a group of friends to read a story with such a tremendous focus on friendship... we had a wonderful discussion, we were all captivated by this story! We also thought it would make a fantastic movies, we even casted it... I thought I’d share our choices with you all! The story follows Laurie who, one day in December, sees a boy and falls in love. They didn’t talk, she knows nothing about him, but the chemistry and the connection they had by just looking at each other is too strong to forget.
