Description

Completing a character’s personal goal not only gives you more fame, it allows you to flip your character card over and receive an even more powerful ability! Can you believe it’s already been five years since Arkham Horror: The Card Game first launched? This game has been going strong all this time and it’s not slowing down anytime soon. We had two big announcements for Arkham LCG in the In-Flight Report, with the first being Machinations Through Time.

First and foremost, one of the most important aspects of this expansion is the addition of new playable characters. SCRIPT, because setting up the game is not necessarly the best part I added 2 scripts to help in your task You’ve made a name for yourself in the Outer Rim, but there is still Unfinished Business. Hyperlanes through the Core Worlds hold the promise of untapped opportunities. The market is flush with new merchandise, from valuable cargo to tools of the trade. Just watch your step; the latest crop of bounties is even deadlier, and your rivals are looking to take you down! If all the new things to see and goods to grab aren’t enough for you, then you’ll be happy to know that Unfinished Business also gives you lots of new things to do. For starters, a pile of new interactive jobs, such as Honest Robbery Sail Barge Sabotage Rebel Traitor Last up you’ve got the new (Ben) solo cards. Yes, I used that joke twice, I like it though. Each character in the game now has its solo card. This has some unique behaviour that will mean each opponent will act slightly differently. You also get a brand new set of basic AI cards as well. Whereas the cards found in the base game were all about delivering cargo for fame, these new ones are all about bounties. This modifies the behaviour of the AI opponent drastically and gives the solo game a completely different feel to it.While Star Wars™: Outer Rim can see you battling up to three of your friends for fame and infamy, it can also be played in solo mode, letting you experience the wonders of the galaxy as you take on an opponent controlled by AI cards and goals. Can you overcome all obstacles and claim superiority at the edge of the galaxy? With your character and ship close at hand, you’re ready for your first adventure in the Outer Rim. On your turn, you’ll begin in the planning phase, and you're immediately faced with a choice of how to spend your time. Taking odd jobs around your current location earns you 2,000 credits, but prevents you from moving. Making repairs to your ship ensures you’re ready for a fight, but again anchors you to your current location. These options can prepare you for the encounters to come, but you’ll never become a legend if you don’t take to the stars. Your final option is movement, travelling along hyperspace routes from planet to planet in search of fame and credits. The long-awaited first expansion for Star Wars: Outer Rim has been revealed by Fantasy Flight Games, two years after the board game first hit shelves.

Planning Step – During this step, the active player may gain credits, move across the galaxy, or recover all of their damage. The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game is Fantasy Flight Games’ longest-running LCG by a wide margin. This game has been around for ten years now, and the size of its loyal fanbase is a testament to how great of a game it is. To that end, we want to introduce this fantastic card game to even more people, and so we designed the Revised Core Set. Towards the top left of this card and stretching across the top to the middle is the fame meter. Before the game begins, players must agree on how many fame points it takes to win the game. You can play a game up to 12 but let me tell you that you are looking at 5+ hours of game time for that amount of fame. When you complete jobs, bounties, or deliver cargo, you maybe have the opportunity to get additional fame points. This all depends on the card you get. The goal of the initial game is to reach the fame point limit. It’s a tough road to climb when there is a large number of fame points set.

On The Edge

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce Unfinished Business, the long-awaited expansion for Star Wars™: Outer Rim! The wonderful part of Unfinished Business is that it brings in even more unknowns to the board game’s original set. You get to choose from more unique characters, which expands the universe quite a bit. There are eight new characters introduced with this expansion. That’s a fair number of new characters in a crowded room of cool characters to choose from. More the merrier.

Outer Rim: Unfinished Fantasy Flight Games | Star Wars Outer Rim: Unfinished

Highly Skilled (you have the skill more than once): You need at least one critical hit, hit, or focus to pass. Star Wars Outer Rim: Unfinished Business was designed by Tony Fanchi and Corey Konieczka and published by Fantasy Flight Games, with graphic design by Michael Silsby. Star Wars Outer Rim: Unfinished Business ComponentsFirst and foremost is a spread of new ships, such as the scrappy Rogue -Class Porax-38 Starfighter and the rebellious VCX-100 Light Freighter Finally, there are the favor tokens. These were fine, but we didn’t use them that much. They do encourage a little bit more player interaction, but they are really only useful in a 3-4 player game. If you are playing with two players, I can’t fathom why I’d ever help out my only opponent. But since they are modular, you can take them or leave them as you see fit. Final Thoughts: In Outer Rim, you take on the role of an underworld denizen, setting out to make your mark on the galaxy. You’ll travel the Outer Rim in your personal ship, hire legendary Star Wars characters to join your crew, and try to become the most famous (or infamous) outlaw in the galaxy! Some AI cards allow the AI player to complete a job that it has. To do so, the AI player simply resolves the reward section of the job card. The AI player does not draw a databank card and does not perform any tests, and can deliver Illegal cargo without having to make a die roll. This is designed to keep the action flowing and allow the focus of the game to be on your own risks and decisions. Six new ships are added to the game including the Jumpmaster 5000 which can be upgraded to Dengar’s Punishing One, a Rogue class Porax-38 starfighter which can upgrade to Cad Bane’s Xanadu Blood, and a VCX-100 light freighter which upgrades to the Ghost from Star Wars: Rebels. Several of these ships go along with the new playable characters. The eight new character standees and cards. Who will you play as? Image by Michael Knight.

Outer Rim + Unfinished Business [scripted] Star Wars: Outer Rim + Unfinished Business [scripted]

Join us today as we take a look at solo play in Star Wars: Outer Rim, a board game of bounty hunters, mercenaries, and smugglers for 1-4 players! The expansion of the game, Unfinished Business, allows for players to add larger goals to their galactic adventure, such as becoming a Crime Lord. With that addition, the player must achieve goals that will lead them to one final reputation. Each reputation card in the expansion has a different set of goals that must be accomplished to retain the moniker the player was shooting for in the game. This addition is wild, and it adds a bit more content to the final experience. This was one of the cooler more personal parts of the Unfinished Business expansion. Titled Unfinished Business, the upcoming expansion for the Star Wars board game was announced in a very - and I mean very - short teaser trailer at the end of Fantasy Flight Games’ In-Flight Report stream during Gen Con Online 2021. Star Wars: Outer Rim – Unfinished Business is the expansion for the main game. This expands the original game with new characters to choose from, adding previously mentioned monikers and goals to shoot for, and provides an easy getaway from organization starships that you might run into along the space path. This also provides more detailed missions, more bounties, more ships, and more goodies in the market. It’s a great expansion and stays true to enhancing the experience and making it more than just another Star Wars game. That said, let’s break it down a bit. These tokens are ok. I never really found myself trading and negotiating that much when I played. There is very little incentive to help your opponents as you’re basically helping them beat you. I’m happy they are here though as it does give you that extra option to help get out of a tight spot you find yourself in. This new standalone scenario gives us our first look at the city of Arkham in different time periods. Investigators must jump between the 1890s, the 1920s, and the 1950s as they try to solve a mystery of scientists disappearing throughout time. Machinations Through Time is the next in line of our special Gen Con scenario releases, similar to The Blob That Ate Everything and War of the Outer Gods. Like those two scenarios, Machinations is compatible with epic multiplayer mode, which means players can work together with other teams to solve this chronological caper. This standalone scenario will hit stores in the first quarter of 2022. Fantasy Flight’s tease for Unfinished Business revealed the expansion’s title and cover artwork, but stopped short of explaining what the box will actually bring to the core game. While Outer Rim generally attracted praise for its gameplay and use of the Star Wars universe, criticism typically concerned the limited number of events and cards in the base set - leading to calls for an expansion to add replayability and variety shortly after release.
