Prayers for our troubled world
As we learn about the needs of individuals, groups of people, and churches, we then can pray specifically. My dad was seated right there on the bed! I was so happy and praised the Lord in my heart. Dad smiled and reached out his hand to hold me by the shoulders. He said, “Omwishiki wangye wijja kundeba!” which means, “My beloved daughter, you have come to visit me!” Take encouragement from the fact that our God is fully in control of all things, and we’re all a child of God! Father God , we pray for our world. We pray for peace and hope to abound. Many people are afflicted by natural disasters – floods, droughts and forest fires – by conflict, poverty , and the aftermath of the global pandemic . In challenging times such as these, help us turn to you as our source of strength and hope. Merciful Lord, we ask for your peace to be with all those who are suffering from griefs and hardships in all kinds of trials. We pray they would come to know your comfort and provision. What does Paul mean by this? He probably says this because if there were many gods, there would be many ways to salvation. This is the pluralistic view common in the ancient world and today. There are many pathways to God, and therefore, evangelism is condemned. Evangelism says that there is only one right way. And that’s exactly the argument Paul makes: there aren’t many gods. There is only One and, therefore, only one way for salvation. We should pray evangelistically because there is only one God. 2. We should pray evangelistically because Christ is the only mediator between God and man. Though we’d previously practiced congregational prayer sporadically, we began to pray congregationally during every Sunday gathering. Between songs, one of our worship leaders will set a theme and invite people to pray. At first, four to six people from the congregation prayed aloud before we moved to the next song. As we’ve grown in attendance, we now invite members to pray from the front with a microphone or to share a personal testimony about their own experience in prayer.
