Description

You are the daughter of witches, as all women are […] Magic is in our blood and bone; it is in the earth at our feet; it is in the very air we breathe.” He is a perfect example of a madman. In Queen of Myth and Monsters, his persona is rife with violence and hatred. His terrible past had sharpened him to anger. Peace is not in his vocabulary. I had high hopes for this book. I was hoping that now that Isolde has remembered her previous life, we would learn more about the characters. However, she does not recall many details until after they would have been useful. As a result, we spend the entire book behind. Which doesn’t help because there’s a traitor in Adrian’s inner circle, so every interaction makes you wonder if the person is telling the truth. We lose attachment to the characters we interact with because there is no trust. I understand why it was done because that is how Isolde felt. However, when the betrayal occurs, there is no emotional connection. Because we, as readers, have no emotional attachment to those characters and relationships. As a result, Isolde feels off. She gets angry and hurt, even though she had been suspicious of them the whole time. Like, make up your mind. Did you trust them or not? Such a great instalment. And after reading the author’s note I feel like we share the same opinions. If you’ve read any works about matriarchal societies, the rise of patriarchy, or the witch hunts - this fantasy romance is such an inspiration of that. It’s obvious in the first book the author had done some research into this and the second one even more so. RTC! Queen of Myth and Monsters was just as good as King of Battle and Blood. While it felt similar to the first one in terms of a third act betrayal, I liked this instalment for delivering the MC chemistry.

There are nine corpses lying in a gory heap in front of the gate. Ilode’s guards were scooping them up piece by piece because of fear that their queen would suddenly speak in red and declare another war, even though the previous one wasn’t yet over. Chapter 2 of Queen of Myth and Monsters Things I already love about this book even though I’ve only read the first three chapters because Net Galley rules, and it’s available in the Read Now section so… I’m not saying run to get them, but I sure did.Adrian is losing control of himself because the goddess Dis is controlling him more and more. As Dis is enraged at Adrian’s desire for freedom after being reunited with Isolde. He can’t be set free unless someone uses magic against him to break Dis’s hold on him, which doesn’t happen in this book. However, it is something that many people are afraid of. Which is why they go after Isolde, who is his only weakness. Adrian will die if Isolde dies. But I also felt like her only way to solve issues with Adrian was to have sex, weird to me. I was also wondering where Miha went the whole book but I may not have remembered if she was mentioned in the beginning and didn’t play a role until mentioned right at the very end. That’s just to name a few without giving too much away about who the traitors are and what their motivations were. One, I feel bad for them because they were just trying to put a stop to what was becoming a growing problem. They had stabbed Isolde, but they were distraught over it. I have no sympathy for the other. Given that they are responsible for nearly everything that goes wrong in the series. I understand being angry about past injustices, but I believe the things they did at this point are even worse, especially given that the people responsible are long dead.

The Content Warning in the very beginning of the book, which includes several phone numbers to reach to if you need them. Absolutely love that idea, and I think more authors should implement it - especially in books dealing with TWs as severe as these ones. Isolde, newly coronated queen, has finally found a king worthy of her in the vampire Adrian. But their love for each other has cost Isolde her father and her homeland. With two opposing goddesses playing mortals and vampires against one another, Isolde is uncertain who her allies are in the vampire stronghold of Revekka. It is an extraordinary piece of work, a perfect balancing act with terror on one side and love on the other. This exceptionally well-written novel is all about suspense, thrill, and drama, including the relationships between generations and what happens between long-standing friends. The characters are sensitively portrayed, as is their recovery, and the hopeful ending is realistic. Readers of domestic dramas will be enthralled. For those who love gritty, somewhat nasty mysteries with weird, and exotic settings in one of the world’s most famous cities, this thriller mystery will satisfy you. It is perfect for a long plane trip or a rainy weekend. Queen of Myth and Monsters by Scarlett St. Clair PDF/ePub Details This review is going to be hard to write because this book was one of my most anticipated books of the year *sad emoji* It's such a shame that it didn't deliver as good as the first one. King of Battle and Blood was epic, it instantly charmed me and I was so into the story I couldn't stop reading it. The writing was very nice and the flow of the story so easy to follow. There was action, romance, steam, and betrayal. Everything in a beautiful, entertaining fantasy romance! But Queen of Myth and Monsters, though it did have similar moments, felt so flat for me. They have sex (not always intercourse) 11.5 times in the main book (.5 for a hypothetical but described sex scene) and !THREE times in just the bonus scene at the end alone. And they fight at least once between almost every single one of those scenes. I can only think of one, maybe two sex scenes that felt natural for the moment and actually intriguing. It’s all just so repetitive and basic and truly overwrought.

She is the most brutal of all the queens in the Lara Kingdom. Queen Isolde, the queen of myth and monsters had a happy upbringing until King George killed her mother, which caused her to become extremely enraged and want revenge. She swore solemnly that she would rob him of the kingdom of Vela and execute him without pity. I’m not sure what could have been done to improve the story’s flaws. Isolde would require a personality transplant, which will never happen. And she couldn’t go from one of these four characters betrayed you to trusting any of them until they proved otherwise. That would be stupid of Isolde. So, the only thing that could have made it more powerful was if we had explored that element through Adrian. For over 200 years, those were his closest companions. He trusted those people, and some of them betrayed him. But we got all of those moments from Isolde rather than Adrian. As she experienced the turning point. Because, as previously stated, she is Adrian’s weakness, they were always going to go after her instead of him. So, I’m not sure how that would’ve been accomplished if we had more of Adrian’s point of view. As we would have missed the event. I'll start by saying that I wasn't going to continue this series but I got approved the audiobook arc for this book and decided to give it a chance. I got to 29%. A conversation happened between Adrian and Isolde, and I can not keep reading when this is a plot device that is being used over and over again. This book had the potential to be so much more. The first book in this series was excellent, but this one fell flat for me. I still liked it, but I wasn’t invested in the characters. Even the romance between Adrian and Isolde failed to captivate me. I couldn’t understand how the two could be in love when Isolde and Adrian were constantly fighting. In their brief interactions, Isolde and Killian displayed more heart.Since this is the second book in the series, I came into this reading blind. The plot was easy to follow even though I hadn't read the first book. There is something delicious about the love story between Adrian and Isodle. If you love spice, this audiobook definitely has plenty, but it is so much more. Scarlett St. Clair's writing is atmospheric and captivating. Several people have stated that Adrian has no control over Dis and that she should be afraid of him. Adrian tells her the same thing. Then she acts surprised when he loses control and becomes upset that people may be correct in believing that stopping Adrian is not a bad idea. Adrian even requests that she do so. So, are those people truly betraying you, or are they possibly… I don’t know, trying to avert a bigger problem? Also known as Dis. However, Adrian, her husband was also there consoling her using her touch and kisses. After their heated love-making, Isolde stood up emotionless and get dressed like it wasn’t a big deal at all. Her mind was succumbed with pressure and wants to immediately sit on her throne. Chapter 4 of Queen of Myth and Monsters This chapter of Queen of Myth and Monsters was written from Adrian’s point of view. Like Isolde, he was constantly yearning for a brutal battle that would endanger the kingdom. He was currently on the witch’s territory, but their spells couldn’t touch him because he had been trained to kill. In the end, he was successful, and as he turned to go after casting one last glance, a grin appeared on his lips.
