It is really easy to read, I found it hard to restrict myself to one chapter a day but I wanted this book to follow me through Ramadan. It felt so personal, as if Aliyah was speaking to me. I’ve never been a fan of guided journals. I felt it would be like a chore doing as the journal tells you. But I was proved wrong by Aliyah in the Ramadan Reflections journal. Wow. From the very first day where we learn to reflect into our past. How often do we truly sit and think about our actions? Think about how we have sinned in the past and how it has affected our lives. I’d say hardly ever. But Day 1 — there I was sat dwelling deep into my past sins. Reflecting truly on myself on a whole new level. Ramadan reflections is an intimate journal split into 30 chapters for the 30 days of Ramadan which guides you towards reflection, healing, deepening your spirituality and wisdom with Islam as the guiding light, leading you closer to Allah through the many tests you may face. When publishing giants Penguin Books approached Aliyah Umm Raiyaan last year to write a book about Ramadan she immediately said yes. After a gruelling month of non-stop writing, she presented her first draft of Ramadan Reflections. The Quran describes itself as a book of guidance for mankind 2:185. It sometimes offers detailed accounts of specific historical events, and it often emphasizes the moral significance of an event over its narrative sequence. [18] [19] Hadith are additional oral and written traditions supplementing the Quran; from careful authentication they are believed to describe words and actions of Muhammad, and in some traditions also those closest to him. [20] In most denominations of Islam, the Quran is used together with hadith to interpret sharia (Islamic) law; [20] in a small number of denominations, only the Quran is used as a source. During prayers, the Quran is recited only in Arabic. [21]

Consider how you can incorporate the teachings of the verse into your daily life. Write down practical action steps that align with the message of the verse. This step bridges the spiritual insights with real-world application. The book has been written very practically and beautifully. Aliyah has this gift to connect the readers actual feelings and thoughts as if she is inside their own minds. She effortlessly draws clear lines of truths to the truth, while connecting us to our Creator, presenting Him and His Choices and Actions in our lives in such deeply beautiful considerations. She reminds us of our purpose and life in the hereafter. This is her debut book. She has written the book in a relatable way to the Holy Month of Ramadan and which I find can be used in any month of the year. If you are a stranger to the title in the third chapter or are emotionally guarded she will challenge you to feel. Make sure you read Ramadan Reflections where you have few distractions. The Quranic ayahs, ahadith, and duas are beautiful and need to be savoured.Aliyah has an exceptional, authentic style of expression. This book is a manifestation of her incredible talent; her candidness, her vulnerability is ever so endearing. Sometimes it’s not that we don’t know something, but just that we need a reminder, a little nudge to remember the good something has for us. Day 28 on Istakhara teaches us to turn to Allah in times of desperation, in times when we truly need the guidance of Al-Hādi (the One who guides) to light the way for us. I learnt how to perform Istakhara correctly and with conviction that this is the best way to resolve my conflicting mind and heart. Quranic verse ( ayah) is sometimes recited with a special kind of elocutionreserved for this purpose, called tajwid. The Quran is the holy text of the Islamic faith, and the centerpiece around which 1.6 billion lives revolve. It is also a subject of grave misunderstanding for much of the Western world. It's well written and will speak to everyone in some way- each chapter has a theme and the writing style- part memoir, part advice- is really well balanced. It felt like having a conversation with a trusted friend.
