About this deal

In other words, Samsung pitched this Plus model as more of an intermediate step than simply a larger version – which is a bit of a stretch. There aren’t that many more extras in the S20 Plus than there were in the S10 Plus that warrant the relative price jump… aside from 5G connectivity.

Wi-Fi 6 (ax), 120Hz Amoled Display, In-Display Fingerprint Sensor, Mobile Communications Standard 5G The Plus stands for more display, more memory, more battery power and a time-of-flight depth sensor. Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus 5G So whether you're editing photos in Photoshop or Lightroom, or parachuting into your one-millionth round of PUBG, the Galaxy S20 Plus has the grunt to keep up. We tested it with media and games, and the phone handled everything without a problem – even when pumped up to 1440p resolution or 120Hz refresh rate, the phone didn’t heat up under pressure. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus’ 6.7-inch AMOLED display is sharp and vibrant, with WQHD+ resolution (3200 x 1440). The display is a shade taller than the S10 Plus’ QHD+ (3040 x 1440) screen, which is likely due to it having less bezel at the top and bottom. But you likely won’t notice a difference given how similar they are – at least until you get to the refresh rate. As you’d expect from a flagship refresh, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus is flush with the very latest silicon. In the case of the UK and European release of the phone, you’re getting Samsung’s 7nm 2.7GHz octa-core Exynos 990 while our US counterparts get the Snapdragon 865. Yes, the S20 phones join several other late-2019 and 2020 models in adding the option to refresh the screen more frequently. Most phones operate at 60Hz (meaning the screen refreshes 60 times per second), but on the S20 Plus and its siblings you can opt to up this to 120Hz.

At a stunning refresh rate of 120Hz, whatever you're watching is always crisply smooth and full of detail. And if you want to adjust the picture yourself there are a range of customisation options such as colour, sharpness and saturation so you can get the display looking just as you want it to. How big is the Samsung Galaxy S20+ battery? Get ready for what Samsung are calling the “smartphone camera to end all cameras”. The Galaxy S20+ has everything you need to take great pics thanks to a 64MP Telephoto Camera, 10MP Front Camera and 12MP Wide Camera. So whether it’s a stunning wide angle landscape, a zoomed in close-up or a show stopping selfie the Galaxy S20+ will have your friends thinking you’re a professional photographer.Proximity Sensor, Hall Effect Sensor, Light Sensor, Gyroscope Sensor, Accelerometer (G-Sensor), Barometer, Fingerprint Sensor There are three imaging cameras on the rear of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus: a zoom, a standard wide-angle and an ultra wide-angle. You’re not getting the same spectacular 100x “Space Zoom” (10x optical) as on the S20 Ultra; instead the zoom camera is an f/1.8 64-megapixel 3x optical unit that can digitally zoom to 30x. You’ll mostly be using the main camera, though, and that’s a much more standard-looking 12-megapixel f/1.8 shooter, while the ultra wide-angle camera captures at 12-megapixels and has an aperture of f/2.2.

The rear camera set consists of 4 lenses. The main camera is a 12 MP (f/1.7) wide-angle with OIS. With a large 1/1.76-inch sensor, it ensures noise-free images even under poor lighting conditions. It is paired with a 12 MP (f/2.2) ultra wide angle lens. The 64 MP (f/2.0) telephoto lens offers 3x lossless hybrid optical zoom and 30x digital zoom. It is also equipped with optical image stabilisation. The S20 Plus' camera set differs from the smaller S20's in that it includes a fourth camera -- a time-of-flight depth sensor for bokeh mode. The camera shoots 8K video with a frame rate of up to 30 fps. The 10 MP selfie camera captures 4K video at up to 30 fps. Powerful Performance The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus doesn’t look much different to its predecessor, but this is the sleekest device in a long line of flagships – and that isn’t a bad look.Your favourite smartphone content has never looked better than when it’s on the Galaxy S20+’s 6.7” Infinity-O Display. With just a tiny punch-hole selfie camera, the edge-to edge display is practically all screen giving you an immersive viewing experience. As for the display’s general properties, expect much the same as from the S10 Plus, with a very clear and detailed picture when watching content up to 1440p resolution. Despite technically having a higher-resolution screen than the one on the iPhone 11 Pro Max, both that phone and the S20 Plus showed roughly the same picture when demoing, say, a 1440p video on YouTube – though the Apple phone’s screen does have a slight edge in contrast, showing high-contrast subjects (like a lizard in the sun) in greater clarity. Of course, you don’t have to spend even this much and there are other manufacturers offering phones with similar feature sets for considerably less. The OnePlus 7T Pro, for example, has a triple camera array and a high-refresh-rate display, although it’s 90Hz versus the Samsung’s 120Hz. Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus review: Design and key features The ultrawide photographs, in good light, are very good. There’s a touch more stretched-out distortion in the corners than on the iPhone 11 Pro but the image is, overall, a little cleaner and crisper with, again, less noise: That’s not especially remarkable, but it seems that battery life is more or less keeping pace with innovation: you can eke out a bit more life by reducing the display resolution or dropping the refresh rate down to 60Hz; conversely, you can max-out the screen tech that’s on offer, but battery life will suffer accordingly.
