Saucony Ride 14 review | TechRadar

DPT/Footwear Science: B+ (Great forefoot flexibility, nice naturally stable ride. Bevel could be a bit more aggressive) One of the weight-saving factors is the minimal use of rubber on the outsole. The stripes are rather thin and are strategically placed in the areas that are most prone to abrasion. The joy of the Ride 14 is that on day one it feels good on your feet. The upper hugs your foot well and the midsole isn’t harsh or unstable. Whether it’s day one or day 100, the Ride 14 is going to feel the same and that’s its key strength. The weight is not noticed There is no shifting and sliding around with the gusseted tongue of the Ride 15. In addition, it's padded enough (4 mm) to prevent the shoe's rather rough laces from digging into the skin.Overall: A- (One of the best updates to one of the most popular neutral trainers, this shoe will please many with its consistency)

Ride | Saucony

Saucony’s Guide 14 is .8 oz. / 23 g. lighter than Hurricane 22 in women’s size 9.5. Both shoes have an 8 mm. drop. Ride 15 weighs more than an ounce less than the Ride 14, 1.3 ounces to be exact! I don’t ever remember a running shoe shedding this much weight from one version to the next. At 8.4 oz (238 g), it's more than an ounce lighter than most daily trainers with an average weight of 9.9 oz (281 g). This said the brand stays true to its promise. Designers wrapped the Ride 14 in a lightweight mesh upper for breathable performance. The upper is seamless inside and out, which gives it a sleek look and mitigates the chance of rubbing or chafing. I actually didn’t notice the weight much while testing which is a surprise and a testament to their ability to get the job done without fanfare or fuss. Should last a long time

Saucony Ride 15 Upper Unit

Based on our caliper measurements of the platform, it is a little bit wider than average in the forefoot (114.8 mm). New Balance’s 860 is also a comparable shoe, with a 10 mm. drop and similar weight, in the half-size larger 860 that my foot needs.

The new Ride has just the right amount of flexibility for me,” one reviewer says. “So far, this version has a durable feel and I expect to get a lot of miles out of it this year.” Saucony included a padded tongue to alleviate pressure on the top of your foot, and they sewed it into a partial bootie for a precise fit. The upper gives the Ride a comfortable fit and soft feel, one tester says. The Ride’s upper has such a cozy feel,” she says. “The tongue is padded and cushy on the top of my foot, and the heel collar conforms to my foot perfectly.” You’ll see a difference between the Ride 13 and Ride 14 when you compare them side by side. Reviewers unanimously appreciated the speedier look and low-profile silhouette, and the new colors stand out.The wide opening is easy to slide your foot into, and the narrower heel feels very secure,” one reviewer says. “When I cinch the laces down, my foot doesn’t budge. It fits my foot really well.” Whether you’re doing an easy run or logging uptempo miles, the running shoes you wear for most of your workouts need to be comfortable. Thankfully, the Ride 14 delivers a classic, straightforward fit. While running in this shoe, I wouldn’t say the midsole excites the soul, but it’s pleasant and doesn’t feel dull or heavy. This shoe is great for daily training. No break-in period needed Saucony built the shoe to work for a wide variety of foot shapes. Fleet Feet reviewers say the newest Ride fits securely thanks to the accommodating forefoot and dialed-in heel cup reinforced by a rigid internal heel counter. The new Ride 14 looks and feels sportier than the 13,” one reviewer says. “It's protective enough for big training cycles, but the sleeker look and nimble feel give it serious versatility. Those funky colors don't hurt, either.”

The 860 has a more streamlined cut and seems to bring me onto my toes more readily than the Guide, with Guide 14 providing a more substantial-feeling base underfoot. Guide 14 jumped out of the box with a look that matched its later ride; “Hi, I’m a standard shoe of quality build, a bit old fashioned in technology (medial post; I’m lookin’ at you). Since you ran in 90’s Gel-Kayanos for years; I’ll feel like home.” One of the hallmarks of the Ride line is a lightweight feel, and the Ride 14 delivers on that, too. Saucony lists the men’s model at 9.4 oz and the women’s at 8.4 oz, depending on the size. The plush shoelaces (that my cat likes playing with while I put the shoe on), anticipate the padded comfort of the rest of the upper. The feathery feel complements the moderately firm cushioning for a ride that can handle any type of run.Designers trimmed a bit of weight from the shoe, too, but it was already a lightweight trainer, so you probably won’t notice much of a difference.
