About this deal

Also, I wouldn't let an article written on the other to influence my decision. Not sure why you mentioned it.

Because you asked for opinions, I'll give you mine, but ultimately the decision is for you to make. The two watches are quite similar and I suppose they are so in pricing as well (?). They both have the same movement, same handset and similar overall design. I personally like the simpler design of the SNKL45 dial with a uniform texture on the dial and no framing on the day-date complication. The lume on the "inner" side of the indices also looks better in my opinion and works better with the lume on the handset which doesn't reach all the way to the tip of the hands, making the SNKL45 more legible in the dark as the lume pips are closer to the lume on the handset, if that's of any concern for you. The pips, however, look slightly bigger on the on the SNKL23 so they might glow better and longer but I don't really know if this is the case. The brilliant and rich sunburst grey dial looks really dynamic and with the all polished stainless steel case, the look really comes together to create the appearance almost of that of a Rolex Oyster Perpetual homage, but with enough unique design elements to stand on its own in terms of originality. Leather strap watches tend to fit without a problem for most wearers. However, watches fitted with metal bracelets often need adjusting to get the perfect fit. The crown at the 4:00 position certainly helps to add to the comfort, but I’ll admit, it’s such a tiny crown, it can be difficult to pull out and use. At the time, after wearing a dive watch for a couple of months, I thought the Seiko 5 looked too small and effeminate on me. It is a ‘smaller’ case size (37mm in diameter) and is maybe even smaller than average by modern day standards.Coming in slightly larger at 39.9mm, with less variety of finished surfaces, and without any lume whatsoever, it wears quite a bit visually larger, and more subdued than the SARB on the wrist. The SNKL45J2, SNKL45K2 and SNKL45P2 models, if they exist, would have a different band style or material. The amount of jewels in a Seiko 5 varies depending on the movement used. Watches with the 7S26 movement have 21 jewels, and those with the 4R34 and 4R36 have 24 jewels. Some older, vintage Seiko 5s that use discontinued movements have 17 jewels. What About Vintage Seiko 5s? If you are looking for an expensive status symbol that requires high maintenance, buy Swiss, if your looking for an affordable long-term service reliable watch you buy Seiko ! First off, it has a slightly downgraded 4R35 movement. While not technically as good as the Seiko SARB’s 6R15 movement, the 4R35 movement has the upside of being more affordable, and common. This means it’ll likely be cheaper to have the watch serviced than its 6R15 counterpart.

If there is a SNKL45K1 or SNKL45P1 it is made elsewhere in Asia, does not say "Made in Japan" on the dial and is more likely to have Spanish as the second language for the day. In my experience Swiss watches are like German cars expensive to buy, expensive to maintain and no where near as reliable as Japanese cars, especially Toyotas and Suzukis.

While the Seiko SARB033 and SARB035 have been discontinued, there’s no shortage of amazing versatile and well-finished dress watches, such as the Orient Star, or Tissot Visodate.

The good news is, there is clearly no shortage of Seiko 5s to choose from, and even if the SNXS79 doesn’t do it for you, there are plenty of other expensive-looking Seiko 5s to choose from. Why I Bought the SNXS79 Thrice (Yes, Three Times) I thought it didn’t work, I set the time gave it a few shakes and to my amazement it works perfectly! From the humble-yet-mighty 5 series all the way up to Grand Seiko timepieces, the range of Seiko’s prices is wide. Collectors will find plenty of modest and high-end options, but Seiko is a solid option overall for the casual watch-wearer looking for extreme quality at surprisingly approachable price points. While the bracelet feels rather light and cheap, I must admit, it’s rather comfortable on the wrist. Yes, as of 2018, the Seiko SARB033 and SARB035 were discontinued. Why Were the SARB033 & SARB035 Discontinued?

It keeps decent time, it can take a beating for years and years without needing a service and is extremely affordable.

The Seiko SARB033 and SARB035 are well-known for being watches that look and feel much more expensive than they really were.Essentially a more affordable version of the SARB033, the SZSB012 takes all of the design queues of the SARB but cuts a few corners in its overall fit and finish to keep costs down. It even has 200m water resistance, yet another functional improvement over the SARB, making it even better for everyday wear. One of the main things that can affect how a watch looks is the dial. Not only do you have to choose a dial color and layout that suits you, but also one with the right finish. Sunburst watch dials can be a bit flashy, as they vary greatly in different lighting conditions, while glossy or matte dials usually look rather neutral.
