It met my expectations perfectly and I'd recommend it for anyone living in the UK and looking for some ideas of where to start with planning weekends away. Punchy, vivid text describes each weekend adventure and gives the lowdown on the destination, the activity and any practical details. WHEN TO GO In winter, Austria is an alpine wonderland with ski resorts readily accessible from Innsbruck. Temperatures can get very high in mid-summer: the most pleasant months are April to the end of June and September to October. Details are given of how to get there and each city is illustrated with excellent colour photography. The low-key, laid-back Austrian resort of Mayrhofen is 40-minutes from Innsbruck and is perhaps the biggest draw for snow-seekers in the area. The city’s most notable sight is the Golden Roof, a three-story Tyrolean balcony in the heart of Innsbruck’s medieval Old Town. A book leaves our collection of over seven million titles and begins a new chapter every two seconds, enabling more goods to be reused. Paris, Venice, London, Barcelona, Prague—the lure of Europe's classic cities is timeless, and all these must-see destinations are covered in this book. All the classic European destinations, such as Paris and Florence, are represented, in addition to an eclectic selection of interesting and emerging destinations around the continent such as Vilnius in Lithuania and Brno in the Czech Republic.

Biography: Robin Barton is a London-based journalist and editor specialising in travel, adventure sports, food and environmental issues. Additionally, while the author doesn’t explicitly say if you need a car, the descriptions give a good enough idea of whether the main highlights are in a walkable city center or if the whole point is driving to neighboring towns. There are some of the usual suspects (Paris, Berlin), but also some cities that might not be first on the list, such as Talinn in Estonia.Don’t be misled by the title, however, the month-long festival showcases music from composers old and new. The author shares which airlines fly there from which London-area airports, so it works well for someone like me who is based in London. This book could be one of the primary texts for courses in film analysis, to accompany a work like Timothy Corrigan’s A Short Guide to Writing about Film (8th edition, 2011).
