If you’ve ever seen Fried Green Tomatoes, Joan erikson reminds me much of the character played by Jessica Tandy.How truly fortunate it was that Joan Anderson met Joan Erickson on the beach and even more fortunate to gain her as a mentor. There was so much potential with the sister, the story of community and her small business - that would have been a fantastic story. That setting (though her lived experience) caused me to read the book with a skepticism that colored my reaction to the book on the whole.

I really enjoyed this book--not because the writing was stellar, but because of the subject of the book. Instead of the beach in the foreground it goes directly into the waves of the sea, with no sky to be seen. I think this is a great book for women, and particularly those who may be at a crossroads, whether it be with their marriage, their retirement, their empty-nest status, or some other life-changing event. Back in Europe, Sorolla held initially in Paris and exhibited in art exhibition of the Société des Artistes Français, the 1903 painting Evening Sun, an image of fishermen from Valencia. Some of it is interesting, inspiring even, while some other parts are a bit too over the top for my tastes.Mother and daughter stand a few meters from the sea on an ocher expanse of sand in the foreground at the bottom.
