It is not quite as mellow as one might expect of a 16 year maturation, but that adds to its sprightliness. Not very surprising this one, exactly what you might expect of such an Aberlour: Decent, pretty full, smooth, not too complex.Honestly, I would love to drink this on a regular basis and if I were Aberlour I wouldn’t let any of this amazing stuff get blended away either. This includes the Port Charlotte and annual Octomore releases, which at times reaches some of the highest levels of peat in any whisky out there. The Dalmore’s already intensely fruity and complex single malt offers striking notes of ripe plum, cherry and dried apricot in the Port Wood Reserve expression.
