I [once] developed incredibly strong feelings towards the female broadcaster Sue Cook, which did extend to touching,” he admits.

Alan Partridge is publishing his third memoir, Big Beacon, about resurrecting his television career. This is a decent length - not the finest work and certainly no Nomad - but decent enough and I enjoyed it. Quote from: gotmilk on May 11, 2023, 08:54:22 PMIt's very much a Gibbons era thing, these weird, Butterfield-esque vocal tics. Create more room for him to be a character and react to things, rather than keep him tied to the past. Elsewhere, suspicious over the pervasive air of anxiety within the BBC, he wonders why Jeremy Clarkson was really axed from Top Gear. Quote from: BritishHobo on May 18, 2023, 11:40:02 AMI thought the blurb was meaning it's going to focus on climbing back from North Norfolk Digital to This Time, rather than focusing on older stuff again. The onnnnnly thing I'm a bit skeptical of is all the career stuff, feel like that was covered pretty well between I, Patridge and Nomad, but we shall see. Should the estimated publication date change, we will notify you within a reasonable period of time.

There's also a lot of repetition (quite literally) as well as a few missed opportunities to really take the character somewhere interesting. Although I didn't understand why there were 2 stories going on at the same time I still enjoyed it and especially the last bit that you only get in the audiobook that teaches you how to make money off air b and b. It's like Dr who having all these millions of additional audio adventures where for some reason he sounds ancient, then he goes back to sounding normal again for, eg. Although it’s treading a lot of ground that will be familiar to fans of the character (the ending of a career in television, the renovation of a property) it manages to put a fresh spin on it, helped along beautifully by Partridge’s ideas of a clever structure and literary devices.

So many laugh out loud moments, you know why you are here, reading these aren't going to stop you enjoying Partridge's peerless production. Partridge himself is hardly an arbiter on who is, and who isn’t, a prime candidate for cancellation, which of course makes his obsession all the funnier. I'd love to see him expand a bit - a behind the scenes docco on the filming of the pilot of Swallow, perhaps, or some sort of The Trip style travelogue paid for by the Radio Times.
