I'm now of the opinion the quality differences are due the arrangements Sony had between the US and EU manufacturers and may even be why the back of the Walmart and United outer sleeves do not include the Sony Music label adjacent to the Columbia/Legacy/Velvet Hammer labels, whereas the yellow opaque outer sleeve has Columbia/Legacy/Velvet Hammer/Sony Music. The record comes in a picture sleeve with a black and white printed inner sleeve featuring lyrics and album credits. Dirt was the band’s last album recorded with all four original members, as bassist Mike Starr was fired in January 1993 while the tour. Featuring some of the band's most classic cuts such as, 'Them Bones', 'Down In A Hole', 'Rooster', and, 'Junkhead', to name but a few; the incomparable dynamic of Wayne Staley's iconic vocals and cryptic, yet brutally honest lyricism combined with guitarist Jerry Cantrell's mammoth riffs and delicate nuance, still resides high in the echelons of alternative rock three decades on.

While the new 2LP does appear to be the superior press, I'm actually more impressed by the MOV pressing in the sense that it sounds this excellent on a single LP. Let's be transparent and honest here : it sounds clearer, louder that's to say better than the original.I recently received my copy, I was a little worried when I started reading some answers about the best MOV mastery. Of all the Dirt reissues I've tried, the yellow opaque vinyl is my favorite and IMO sounds the best. Not only do you get the yellow hype sticker matching the green hype sticker on the United/MPO black vinyl releases, but you also get a color vinyl similar to the Walmart release.

With the previous mixed reviews I have to say my MOV release sounds great, no inner groove distortion or sib, very dynamic and nice soundstage , i came on here to see about the new 2 record set and as im writing im listening to this and again it sounds great!

The pressing really stood out from my CD that's for sure but I found some spots where I was not completely astonished by the sound. If mov had put it on 2 disc it would most likely be better than the 2022, but I think the point of vinyl is to sound separate and clear. The album gave Alice in Chains international recognition, being certified 5x platinum in the United States, platinum in Canada, and gold in the UK. For lifers and newcomers alike, this 30-year anniversary edition serves as an ideal opportunity to revisit a genuine classic, far murkier and riddled with antagonistic depths than any of its would-be peers.

In the meantime, perhaps more than a decade ago, I got the 1st vinyl pressing made in Holland in 1992. Side A of this remaster is 11 minutes long and has almost no dead wax, so it has a lot of headroom and little compression.That being said, my personal history with Dirt and the Seattle sound during my teenage years binds me to the original sound. I can push this about 10db past unity and it's still absolutely thumping, earthshattering guitar riffs.
