When the pandemic began I was in the middle of writing a book about how not only do we not talk about death – despite the fact that we have filled our pop culture with it – but that we have created a whole industry of people who serve as a barrier between us and death in a physical sense. I really hope this will help normalize the work they do, as well as help prepare people who may someday have need of their services. She has an epiphany (of which more below) which signals a change of tone in the last few pages of ‘The Dead’. Pharoah's creative partner Matthew Graham was initially attached to the series, but withdrew prior to its production to work on Childhood's End for SyFy. I feel like a book like this is helpful for me to process my own grief, throughout my 27 years of life I have lost many family members. The variety of people and jobs was well rounded and each employee provided a new aspect to consider.Through Campbell’s incisive and candid interviews with these people who see death every day, she Why would someone choose this kind of life? I finally had a chance to give it a listen on the Bandcamp app and was immediately blown away from the first track. Hayley Campbell is working out a philosophy of death by getting close to it; holding it; asking interesting questions of people who spend their lives dealing with it. Well, the author admits that she has--and has always had--an interest in death, particularly its more morbid effects.
