Description

It’s gone through numerous changes over the years, including new cast members, bigger budgets, and dramatic physical transformations from creator/star Rob McElhenney. The Glasgow Guardian has a long history of investigative journalism and holding the university to account.

Remember when the gang got quarantined in series nine and he said ‘Trust me Dee, if I found myself getting sick, I would simply say “Sickness! In fact, a recent episode of the show had the characters acknowledge their wrongdoings for engaging in Blackface in a meta turn of events. Because we’ve seen these characters in so many scenarios, naturally we want to see their responses to the biggest event in living history. Since premiering on FX in 2005, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has become the longest-running live-action sitcom on the air, and possibly the wordiest.

The rules are changing quicker than anyone can keep up with, despite herculean efforts from Mac, Charlie, Dennis, Dee, and Frank to continue business as usual. Crucially, the show resides outside the rhetoric of alleged cancel culture as it satirises the very right-wing, White people who deem cancel culture a devastating and vital issue. As players circle the board, they can pay Paddy’s Dollars for such desirable properties as Toxic Waste Beach, Abandoned Pool, and the Paddy’s Pub Basement. The laughs are never aimed at the victims of the gang but at the gang themselves, who are a satirical parable of the most deplorable denizens. Instead of revolving around chummy sitcom characters in typical sitcom situations, the show’s creators and stars (Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton) decided to subvert this trope.

The new season began premiering on Wednesday, December 1st 2021 on FXX, with episodes streaming the following day on FX on Hulu. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia prospers on through its strict rule to never reward the vile main characters and through its willingness to learn and progress from its satirical mistakes. Across the span of eight episodes — and the Atlantic Ocean — we find them answer in a way only they could think to.Well pour yourself a Wolf Cola, don your finest cut-off shirt and allow me to make the case for IASIP 15.

In the seismic wake of Covid-19 and all things 2020, The Gang stands at a crossroads in this strange new world. A conventional episode consists of the “gang” partaking in various schemes to maximise pleasure and profit for themselves, always at the expense of others. With this in mind, the gang recreate Lethal Weapon once more, but instead of simply brushing over their mistakes, they addressed them head-on. It’s an allegory for an entertainment industry that pays lip service to movements like MeToo and Black Lives Matter without making more meaningful change. They hate one another, and their nonsensical motives lead to nothing but destruction, harm and/or death for everything and everyone they encounter.I haven’t been more excited to see a group of characters leave their home turf since Friends make their journey to London. I binged all eight episodes in one sitting – that’s three and a half hours of my life I wish I could get back only to watch it all over again with untainted eyes.

And while IASIP has always been characterised by its stand-alone episodes tackling individual social and political issues, this new format of storytelling really works. The show has spawned plenty of branded merchandise, too, but this is the first official Monopoly game to bear its name. In recent years, its passionate fanbase has grown globally and rapidly, with its popularity arguably owing a debt to availability on Netflix.

After 14 years of the same five characters playing the same old pranks in the same sticky bar – how could the gang possibly have served up their piece de la resistance so late in the game?
