In a particularly clever nod to the film, that sleeve art hides the violent reality behind it, nodding equally to the iconic image of Bateman's blood-spattered face. Several years before his Batman trilogy, Christian Bale brought the enigmatic psycho, Patrick Bateman, to life in a superior adaptation of American Psycho. That disgust ends up manifesting itself in wanting to rid the world of those people, he not seeing them as people but only of those characteristics he wants to rid. In fact, the entire soundtrack is just so so and though there are some spots when we get some pretty groovy 80’s tunes (“Hip to be Square” anybody? The characters are shown with a mixture of caricature, the director seems to mock the world of the protagonist, his empty, useless, dusting existence and his progressive madness.

There are a few more popping tones, in restaurants and night clubs, and overall it's a tremendous upgrade. Lionsgate appear to be the only studio with their head in the game when it comes to Ultra HD Blu-ray releases, affording even their catalogue titles some respectful treatment.
