About this deal

I like that you can add an extra Sensor Pad and nursery unit for use with a second child, this would be particularly valuable if you have multiples or two young children close in age.

Angelcare Ac527 3-in-1 Sensasure Baby Movement Monitor with

Only ever had a few false alarms with the sensor pad when he wriggled right up to one end of his cot and lets face it, you’d rather have a false alarm than find it hadn’t worked when it should have. The features are really advanced which made me worry slightly that I hadn’t set it up right, but the video quality is really good and even when the lights are off, we were able to see our daughter shuffling around in her bed. I’ve used sensor pads with my older child and found the alarm was constantly going off, and there were worrying wires – neither of these are an issue with the Angelcare. However, its height isn’t adjustable so the surface needs to be higher than the cot for the camera to point down into it. The nursery unit also features an adorable halo-shaped nightlight providing your baby's room with a soft glow and allowing you to check up on them without disturbing them. Also, you have to make sure the pad is on a flat base – if your cot has a base that folds in half, the pad can only be positioned at one end of the cot and not over the split in the middle.

An audio monitor does the trick, you think, as all you need to know is whether or not your baby is awake and crying. It’s low resolution, so a bit blurry, but good enough to see what your baby is doing and gives a pretty clear view even in low light.

Angelcare monitors do not operate via WiFi or use WiFi devices that can be connected to your home or any other network, but operate on a secure closed system. The nursery unit will produce a 'rouse alarm' single beep tone designed to stir your baby if no movement has been detected for 15-seconds. I would choose this product to win over others that I have used or seen because of the large, bright, clear screen. The question becomes how extensive you want those tabs to be, as the range of things that can be monitored keeps expanding.

Parents of toddlers told me that they found talk-back useful to instruct a naughty tot to get back in their cot if they’re trying to climb out. To zoom, you press the button in the bottom left corner, but it’s not clear how to zoom back out, and there’s nothing about this in the instructions. I wouldn’t recommend it to particularly anxious parents because for me, the movement sensor pad became a source of worry rather than reassurance. You can pause or turn off the sensor, or pat the mattress twice to stop the alarm if you pick up your baby. You can also use it to talk back to your baby, though the quality isn’t brilliant, and play five lullabies which sound nice and gentle. The overall design is somewhat frustrating because from the front of the parent unit it’s not clear which buttons do what; you have to look to the sides to see the icons explaining their functions. Anxious first time parents or even parents of a child who has health problems that mean you spend time worrying about them when they are in their cot bed. When the parent unit is muted its lights clearly flash whenever your baby makes a noise and the lights appeared sensitive to every sound during my testing. Take parenting to a whole new level of convenience and cleanliness with Angelcare®'s nappy disposal systems. It shows the room temperature and you can adjust the noise sensitivity on it so that it won't pick up every little thing (like noises from outside the room).

The only trouble is remembering to turn the nursery unit off when you pick your baby up otherwise the alarm sounds after 20 seconds. The Angelcare AC327 baby movement monitor feels robust and durable – everything is a compact size and the buttons are likely to be hard to damage. It’s easy to slip under a mattress with a board or slat behind it – providing reassurance for first-time parents that your baby is still breathing. You can easily switch it on and off, adjust the volume and sound sensitivity and press a Talk button to activate talk-back. Its one selling point is the fact that both units have around ten hours of life from one charge, making it a potentially useful travel monitor if you’re staying somewhere without sockets.

This is a video, sound, and movement monitor with a wrap-around band that helps the camera determine patterns of movement that indicate breathing is occurring. It has five blue lights in a vertical line which indicate an escalating scale, with all of them lighting up when the baby is loud. The parent unit is pleasant to hold with rounded edges and simple to use with clearly marked buttons.
