Description

It's actually ok quality sherry casks they've used, but it's so flushed out, way too much water that it dilutes the taste and quality.

The result: a smooth and complex Single Malt Scotch Whisky, with notes of white peach and smooth vanilla cream. If only they would keep it non chill filtered, 46% or more, natural colour, the brand would take off. It starts off with very light notes of mandarin, toffee, honeysuckle and a little bit of wood ash and tannins, but it is quite thin and a bit boring like other reviews have stated but it's ok. In 1948, reconstruction began and the distillery was also given the new, modern spelling ‘Auchentoshan’.The result is a triple distilled single malt packed full of stewed fruit and warming Christmas spice notes. Auchentoshan is a Scottish distillery known for producing some of the lightest and most delicate whiskies in the world. That being said, it's a nice whisky, thick sherry influence upfront with the bourbon spiciness coming in the back, nice honey and tangerine notes but way too soft at 40%. It may not be reproduced in any way whatsoever without Wm Morrisons Supermarkets Limited prior consent, nor without due acknowledgement.

The ever-awesome Ryan Chetiyawardana gives you a cocktail recipe on the label, so you know a tasty way to enjoy this wonderful expression.A 1 litre bottle of Auchentoshan's Blood Oak single malt, which was originally released for the Travel Retail Market.

This expression was aged in a combo of bourbon and red wine casks, imparting waves of vanilla and red fruit. This single malt was distilled at Auchentoshan in 2007 and matured for 13 years in an Oloroso sherry cask, before it was bottled up by the indie experts at North Star. Distilled at Auchentoshan in 2010, this single malt was filled into a single barrel to mature, where it stayed until 2022.The Auchentoshan distillery is located in the Lowlands of Scotland, and has been in operation since 1823. A 10 year old single malt from the Lowland's very own Auchentoshan distillery, independently bottled by that Boutique-y Whisky Company. From the Auchentoshan distillery in the Scottish Lowlands comes a triple distilled single malt Scotch whisky aged entirely in first fill American oak casks. In 1834, it was renamed Auchintoshan, taking from the Gaelic ‘achad oisnin’ or ‘corner of the field’. The whisky was initially filled into refill bourbon barrels, before being transferred to a fresh sherry butt for the final 20 months, imparting a wealth of buttery vanilla, dense fruit, and spice to the malt.

That barrel was opened up by indie bottler Douglas Laing, releasing a total of 318 bottles for the Provenance collection. Distilled in October 2007, the whisky spent 14 years resting in a single ex-bourbon cask until bottling in May 2022. None of the current range is peated, and at the heart lies the 2008 release, ‘Classic’, an eighteen year-old and ‘Three Wood’; matured in Oloroso, Pedro Ximinez Sherry and Bourbon casks. In a blind tasting vs Cardhu 12, it falls short in richness of smell, body of taste and lingering finish.
