They are brilliant for looking at the birds, and extremely clear vision, exactly what I wanted for my husband. I haven't looked through any of the latest alpha bins, but if they are better than then Monarchs, they must be something special.

Unfortunately the right eyecup wouldn’t adjust fully out like the left one and was stiff in comparison. However, the retractable eyepieces on my binoculars are very loose and manually have to be held in place to stop them from closing up.Simply put, it is the distance your eyes can be apart from the eyepiece and still allow you to see a focused image. The definition of “multi coated” is that some of the surfaces, normally the bottom and top one have a lot of layers of the coating. However, I’ve used binoculars for many years and the build quality seems very good, nice and compact and simple to use. The primary uses will be for looking at birds while out (on safari, on coastal walks, forests, from bird hides etc etc) as well as for looking at animals while on safari.
