About this deal

Barnabus dreams of the world above the laboratory, a world of lakes and trees and mountains, that he has heard about thanks to Pip the cockroach. The artwork, needless to say, was absolutely beautiful, and I enjoyed perusing these pages, poring over everything from the decorative endpapers to the detailed scenes with all the projects on the shelf, in their bell jars. As an English Consultant for primary schools, I'm always on the look out for new books that I can recommend to teachers and use for courses to support the English Curriculum.

But Barnabus may have to reach the outside world sooner than he thought, because the Green Rubber Suits are about to recycle all Failed Projects…and Barnabus doesn't want to be made into a fluffier pet with bigger eyes.Barnabus is half mouse and half elephant, but he is a failed project and as a result lives in a bell jar where he is trapped. The story has a great message about working together to achieve the impossible, and loving yourself for who you truly are. Anne Crewdson at the International Examiner expresses, “The storyline is like blades ever-turning and a twist on a timeless tale which remains fresh. Part adventure, part parable, and totally evocative work of art, the Fan Brothers’ new book is unforgettable in its originality”.

Pip reveals that the Green Rubber Suits are planning to recycle all the Failed Projects to make them perfect. This was an adorable book, filled with creations are so loveable and a story that is so heartwarming.Barnabus dreams of seeing the real world and when they all realize they're about to be destroyed they make a daring escape plan. The story is quite metaphorical, though I doubt younger kids might be able to see the deeper meaning of the content without adult guidance.

The Barnabus Project is a children's book written and illustrated by The Fan Brothers Terry and Eric Fan, in collaboration with their youngest brother Devin Fan. But Barnabus dreams of freedom and of a world away from the underground labs they are kept in, and he is not ready to go without a fight.

Meticulous draftsmanship by the Fan Brothers ( The Night Gardener) gives the spreads genuine majesty… the artists imagine not a general, one-size-fits-all afterlife, but one that Finn and his grandfather share—and one that readers will feel privileged to share with them. One day the green suits come down and slap a 'fail' stamp on the bell jar, which means Barnabus and his pals will be recycled. Unfortunately the story was starting strong but soon felt into something kind of «heavy» subject that wasn't handle very well in my opinion.
