Agreed with previous comments, that this version along with the "Red'' album are great pressings, generally quiet, clean and definitely classic analog sound! Checked the remix after he’d done it, it was as good as you could get out of whatever mono recording we did then.The 2023 expanded edition adds nine more tracks from the same era, including the famous “last ever Beatles song” finished in 2023 titled ‘Now And Then’. The versions used in the original LPs, too, were the US Capitol releases, with the notorious Dave Dexter stereo remixes. His credit appears in the left bottom corner of the paper sleeve (side 4), but only on the US version of the album. Maybe the 1980 box will sound better, but it doesn’t have these great covers so I guess nobody wins. I'd kill for properly produced versions of several songs here, most notably "A Day in the Life", "Strawberry Hills Forever" and "I Am the Walrus" (note to self: pick up the remastered version one day).

For the group's 1963 debut LP Please Please Me, photographer Angus McBean took the distinctive colour photograph of the group looking down over the stairwell inside EMI House ( EMI's London headquarters in Manchester Square, demolished in 1995).The mastering and pressing, apart from these small faults, are superb, these records will be among the few that could not be bettered. In any genre or artistic field being able to ship a product by the boatload rarely indicates real artistic quality, only the skill to hit the lowest common denominator. Get Back’ was described as the album version in the US liner notes, although it was in fact the single version. I made sure George Martin was there and I made sure they put that picture which I got Linda [ sic] to take of the same pose as their very first album over the Abbey Road… No what is it that… EMI office in some other place, some square?

A deluxe "expanded" version of the album is due to be released on 10 November 2023, featuring the previously unreleased song " Now and Then", the final "new" original single by the group. Blue has 9 additional tracks including “Blackbird” and “Glass Onion” including the last new Beatles song, “Now And Then” for a total of 21 new additions which are all compiled onto the 3rd disc, effectively creating a ‘new’ LP for each set.Over its 40 years in business, PIAS has grown to be one of the largest independently-owned music groups in the world, carving out its own in-house recorded music division PIAS [Recordings]. This site is not associated with The Beatles, Apple Corps Ltd, related organisations, or any members of The Beatles or their representatives. The tracks sound awesome, and even if you'll miss the one or two favs among them (I do, of course), it's still a brilliant compilation, together with its red sibling.

The 1967-1970 Blue hits album out sells the Red 1962 -1966 Beatles hits album for one reason, people like the later psychedelic period of The Beatles better. The reissues were both double-CD sets, and included expanded booklets with new essays written by Bill Flanagan, and rare photographs of The Beatles.

I didn’t want some strange guy, you know, making dubbed versions of it and putting it out, because of the versions that were going out [on other compilations] the reissues were pretty poor. For current fans and future generations alike, the new 1962 – 1966 collection is a joyous celebration of The Beatles’ timeless musical legacy.
