About this deal

It was released by Apple Records on 15 October 2021 and includes a new stereo remix of the album, as well as a Dolby Atmos mix, by Giles Martin, the son of Beatles producer George Martin. The individual documentaries are also to be found on the 13 original CDs as QuickTime files for viewing on a computer. Competent-sounding stereo versions of "She Loves You" have been created unofficially using the backing track from " Sie Liebt Dich", but the engineers who prepared the remasters elected not to do this. They have different EQ choices, are cleaner sounding, more bass than what the original pressings did and Help!

The flip-back sleeves are missing for the UK 1st release covers (but would later included on The Beatles - The Beatles In Mono in 2014) and Let It Be is missing it's original box or "Get Back" book. There are a lot of options around the world of great sounding reissues and some of the original stampers stayed in production for many years, with the original cutting engineers recutting into the 1980s! surround, and Dolby Atmos, expanded with previously unreleased session recordings and demos, the anniversary releases include a four-disc set, three-LP vinyl set, a two-CD set, a limited-edition picture disc, single CD and LP releases, and digital and streaming. If you do want that "original pressing" sound and are willing to invest the time online, there are ways of compiling a cheaper collection that sounds closer to the original UK stampers.

All formats offer a new stereo mix by Giles Martin and Sam Okell, sourced “directly from the original four-track master tapes” and utilising Peter Jackson’s WingNut Films’ cutting edge ‘de-mixing’ technology, which allows the separation of music previously ‘bounced down’ and fused together on one track. The remastering project for both mono and stereo versions was led by EMI senior studio engineers Allan Rouse and Guy Massey. He worked with Peter Jackson’s audio team on “de-mixing” the original tapes, using cutting-edge technology to isolate the individual instrumental parts. The other formats are a 2CD edition, a single vinyl LP, a single CD and a vinyl picture disc (D2C only). But if this box set or any of the 2012 discs are you're staring point, then these pressings are an affordable and easy to find way to enjoy the Beatles on vinyl. The original album came out in a limited edition box set in the UK on 8 May 1970, which went out of print by that December and was replaced in circulation with a standard issue LP.

The Stereo Box also features a DVD which contains all the short films that are on the CDs in QuickTime format. Although sales were counted as 1 unit for each box set sold in the mono and stereo format, total individual sales exceeded 30 million. Every release of these four songs has been in mono (or simulated stereo) and they appear in mono on the stereo version of Past Masters and Please Please Me.

You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)" is the only track left in the Beatles' catalogue of which the original edit has never received a stereo mix despite the multi-tracks being available. For Past Masters, disc one uses a mid-1960s Parlophone label design and disc two uses the (side A) Apple label design.
