About this deal

This isn't a recipe book for creating big ideas in that sense, but rather a collection very short and interesting essays that can push you to think big. This book addresses some of their more complex questions by introducing accessible philosophical concepts from 25 famous thinkers, contextualized in relatable everyday scenarios. Often in life there are no right or wrong answers just curious minds and that is definitely something worth cultivating. But after having subscribed to his blog for a few weeks, I've found the insight ratio to be lower than I was hoping for. I'm writing a review (unlike myself) because it's a self published book, and I do think a lot of people would like to read it.

The more complex the mistake, the further back you’ll need to go and the more careful and open-minded you need to be in your own investigation. The volume distills “big ideas” from 25 heavy-hitting philosophers, mostly Western, into simple precepts, such as “Know Yourself” (Socrates), “Don’t Expect Too Much” (Seneca), and “Why We Procrastinate” (Hypatia of Alexandria). With relatable characters and practical advice, it empowers children to understand and control their emotions. Therefore, I highly recommend every child should read at least one of these books before the age of 18.

Each word is considered for its purposes and sentences are crafted so that the reader can grasp the point quickly and easily, and they are lead to keep reading. An individual cannot exists apart from society, we are social beings and need reflexive relations with others to be ourselves. A kid friendly introduction to philosophy that explores its practical applications and relevance in everyday life.

You’ll learn to transcend the false stories that deceive many business experts, scientists, and much of pop culture, with history based lessons on how to invent, create and deliver on your own ideas. Personally, I do not find the content very helpful, although I do agree with his viewpoints on certain things. Of course it's possible to find ways to match your interests with the needs of the project, but it's the project, and the people on it, that comes first. They might seem to idle, or relax more often than the rest, but that just might be a sign of their mastery, not their incompetence.

However, this book feels a lot like a collection of blog posts by Scott Berkun and hence, the writing are at times windy. Big Ideas for Curious Minds can harness a child’s spontaneous philosophical instinct and help to develop it through the most vibrant and essential philosophical ideas of history. Finally for the first review, thanks to my best friend Ken Ken Troc, who still agree to lend me books after months (or years) not giving them back. It's good to think differently about life than you did before, it's a sign future progress is possible.

Born to a make-believe world originally for the purpose of food-for-thought, the book certainly lacks depth and cannot earn the reputation as thought-provoking.Piqued, I read the first essay, and slowly finished the entire book at a single seating (it is a short book - and I finished reading it within 3 hours). It offers simple yet profound insights into friendship, ethics, and the human experience, making it an excellent introduction to philosophical concepts for kids. To make a difference you simply need to question the value of what you're doing and do something about your answers. The book has been written by the fantastic School of Life and it is suggested for curious minds aged 9+.
