About this deal

The Super Deluxe vinyl and CD editions of the album brings four discs that present a remastered take on the original, along with a remix using the original analogue tapes and both are a sonic treat, bristling with their own individual magic. It sets a dangerous precedent for the rest of the record, and the band rarely look back over 80 furious minutes. Over the last few months he has disarmed packed rooms of rowdy concert goers, leaving them silent as they hold fast to every syllable sung. The rest is fairly familiar – nothing really more than Black Sabbaths hits in their original form given the treatment you would expect from a live experience.

This super deluxe edition sounds great, and all the fancy extras make this worth for any dio era sabbath fan. Ok, some gripes, the drums are very low in the mix plus the audience is mega distant, but the power of the guitar and bass wall of crunch is just beautiful. In the same interview, asked to choose "a track that the engineer didn't cock up", he said: "I liked 'Heaven and Hell' flowing into 'Sign of the Southern Cross'.After that there was no point due to Dio’s ageing voice (which was still great, but not matching a decade ago) There you have the REAL story. In his autobiography, Iommi confesses that he was "unpleasantly surprised" that Osbourne had included only Sabbath songs and speculates "I think putting out the live album like that was down to Sharon (Osbourne, Ozzy's wife and manager), trying to put the cat among the pigeons. I was worried before Hammersmith came out that it would just be another failed attempt to capture the Sabbath live animal in the wild, but it worked. The collections feature two versions of the legendary album: a newly remastered version by Andy Pearce along with a new mix created from the original analog multi-tracks by longtime band associate Wyn Davis. In the liner notes to The Rules of Hell, Appice states, "I knew things were coming to a close from some of the things that were happening on the road.

The recordings capture the ferocious chemistry and dark magic that defined this incarnation of Black Sabbath with thrilling live versions of recent tracks like “Neon Knights,” “The Sign Of The Southern Cross,” “Voodoo,” and “Children Of The Sea. In the liner notes to the 2008 retrospective The Rules of Hell, vocalist Ronnie James Dio remembers, "It was an excellent tour. The album was recorded in Seattle, San Antonio, and Dallas during the band’s 1982 tour in support of their album Mob Rules. The original Sabs lineup had become my favorite band, and Jason knew that, but at first he was upset he had gotten me one that didn’t have Ozzy on it. The kids on the ocean does symbolize “Children of the Sea”, but they’re using a coffin as their boat – hence, “Children of the Grave”, too. Dio steadfastly denied that he altered the mix and accused Iommi and Butler of fabricating the story. citation needed] In the same interview series, Butler described the Live Evil mixing sessions as "the Yanks against the Brits," adding, "I think Ronnie seemed to desperately want to do his own stuff and we sort of wanted to keep it going as it was.

I’ve owned a Japanese pressing of this for sometime now and I always believed that these recordings could never sound any better until I listened to this presentation.Given the power of the band, what’s captured here is a rough edged and titanic rock ‘n’ roll band, the majesty of the material scuzzed up with some viscerally rough edges that add an additional buzz to what we hear.
