Some said it couldn't be done because it would be too fiddly to work but those naysayers will have to eat some humble pie because not only have BOSS managed to cram an effective stereo looper into a compact pedal, it's also become their best selling pedal of the last couple of years!

Boss RC-1 – Thomann UK

There is an option to configure pedal to start the playback on the second tap without overdubbing, which might be useful for some players.

Everyone always wants to be “in the loop,” but with other loopers, you may not have enough recording time to capture every phrase that you want for your masterpiece. The ever-popular Loop Station range has seen the likes of the RC-30 and RC-300 become industry-standard pedals on stages around the world. This means that from the first press of the switch, the pedal can capture up to 12 minutes worth of stereo audio and then pay it back to you repeatedly. The RC-1 is a great choice for any guitarist, bassist or keyboardist concerned with usability and simplicity while having lots of fun!

Conversely, if you play a looper in front of your amp, then any changes you make to your amp's EQ controls or gain will also affect your loops. Removing the expression pedal helps reduce the footprint of the unit and you can still connect two external expression pedals. The pedal itself was smaller than the Boss, but a slightly increased size is a sacrifice I am more than willing to make for the sake of improved comfort. My first looper pedal was the original TC Electronic Ditto, and the footswitch was the primary reason I no longer have it.It features whole song patterns with full structures including intros and outros, as well as being time adjustable in real-time and providing a super handy visual cue of where you are in the loop. The 720 delivers – you guessed it – 720 seconds (aka 12 minutes) of looping, via two footswitches: the left handles looping, overdubbing and undo/redo, while the right starts/stops loops, and deals out nifty reverse or half-speed effects. The only caveat is that erasing the loop (hold the switch for a second) would initially playback around a second of recorded loop, which makes it not very usable in live situation, but external footswitch totally solves the problem. Both footswitches feature momentary and latching operation, allowing you to do some of those glitchy, EDM-style effects and it’s incredibly ruggedly built, with top jacks that save you space on your pedalboard. You’re able to connect an external footswitch so if in the future you begin to feel limited by the one footswitch, you can easily expand it for more control.
