About this deal

Once you release the blinds from their mounting brackets, it’s like setting a caged bird free to soar through the open sky. That’s because our blinds feature a built-in child safety device that prevents cord tassels and cord locks from posing a danger to children and pets. This is because these are the sort of widths at which your blind is likely to become too heavy for one person to comfortably and safely support, plus the width at which they’re going to become unwieldy even if you can bench press 250lb without breaking a sweat.

Lift the blind’s pelmet or valance up by a few mm to free it, and then bring it towards you to remove it. To remove Roman blinds, you can start by loosening the cord or chain and raising the blinds halfway. The only tool you may need to remove roller blinds is a screwdriver, depending on whether or not your blind has a child safety clip or p-clip securing the control chain or not.

Roman blinds are often made of deceptively heavy fabrics, so you might want an assistant on hand to help you to shoulder the weight of the blind when it comes free. Rotate the louvres of the blind into the fully open position, and then open the blind fully so that the louvres stack at the side. Taking down blinds in the easiest and safest way requires the same basic approach regardless of the type of blind you have, but does vary slightly across different blind styles. When you get to the final bracket and free the headrail, the blind will be released and you (and potentially, your helper) will be left supporting its full weight. Top fix means to install the screws bottom-up through the top of the brackets, this method is used for attaching to the ceiling or top of the window recess.Next, measure the drop — or height — of your recess across the left, middle and bottom of the window. Roman blinds are kept free of dust and debris by being used on a regular basis, raising the blind open and closed to help avoid dust build up. First things first, you’ll need a screwdriver, preferably a flathead or Phillips head depending on the type of screws used in your blinds.

This could be plaster, wood or even steel so we’d recommend looking online to ensure you get the best fittings for your blind. These slats can be made from various materials such as polyester or cotton blends, giving you options when it comes to style and durability.

The brackets can be installed on the top of the window recess — known as a top fix — or to the face of the window or the wall, which is known as a face fix. You’ll feel a slight resistance as you do this, but don’t worry, it’s just the blind being released from its hold.
